Joshua got to know a bit more about the handmaiden Padmé as they both cleaned the droid named R2D2. Naboo was her home-world, she started in the Legislative Youth Program when she was much younger and she was at one time, Princess of Theed. Now at 14, she was at service to Queen Amidala.
At the same time, the girl with alabaster skin and brown eyes got to know a little bit about him. 20 years old, in college and a Master of the Mystic Arts, and a new father to two beautiful baby girls, Joshua seemed pretty successful in life.
"Heddo!"
A Nubian voice startled them from their work on the droid, and they were face to face with a tall and gangly local alien with a billed mouth, small eyes and floppy ears.
"Sowwy. Who-sa are you-sa?" the creature asked innocently.
"I'm Padmé." The handmaiden introduced herself.
"Joshua. It's nice to meet you. What's your name?" Joshua greeted.
"Me-sa Jar-Jar Binks." the alien answered.
"You're a Gungan, aren't you?" Padmé asked.
Jar-Jar nodded.
"How'd you end up here with us?" Joshua asked.
"Moi-dunno. Me-sa day started pwetty okey-day wit a brisky mornin' munchin', den BOOM! Getting berry scared, and grabbin' dat Jedi and pow! Me-sa here! Me-sa gettin' berry berry scared!" the Gungan explained while grinning toothily.
Joshua and Padmé grinned while the droid beeped in amusement.
Soon, the droid was clean, and Joshua headed to where the Ancient One was.
"The Hyperdrive is out of fuel. Master Jinn is heading to a town called Mos Espa with the droid and Jar-Jar to get the part essential to the cruiser. I need you to go with him. Word has it that the handmaiden Padmé is joining him since the Queen is interested in this planet." she told him.
Joshua nodded and headed to where Captain Panaka and Padmé were, but not before he bid Mary and his daughters goodbye. Eli had Tammie go with Joshua to make sure he had his water and an umbrella for shading himself from the heat and the sun.
"Wait! Wait!" Panaka called to Qui-Gon and Jar-Jar, who complained about the sun.
Joshua stood alongside Padmé as Captain Panaka told the Jedi about the Queen's request as Tammie shaded Joshua from the sun and the heat with an umbrella.
"No more commands from my highness today, Captain. This spaceport is not going to be pleasant." Qui-Gon said and turned to go, but Panaka stopped him.
"The Queen wishes it. She's curious about the planet." the officer said.
"And the Ancient One requested her student to go with you, and I'm his doctor for the entire time we're there." Tammie said.
Qui-Gon frowned, taking in Joshua's pale and underweight frame. This young man was way too thin and it could be dangerous for him to be out here, but the younger man didn't look fazed. He looked quietly determined about what was bound to happen once they reached the town. His eyes were a brilliant shade of green, his black wavy shoulder length hair was tied back in a half-ponytail, he wore the silvery blue uniform for the Mystic Arts, and he had a water bottle in his hands. It couldn't be...could it? Qui-Gon had to wonder.
"I know what you might be thinking. You must have complete faith that I can make this trip. I'm not afraid of what's to come. If worse comes to worse, I would lay down my life for this mission and for my family if it ever came to that." Joshua said softly.
