- On three you run after me into the car and we run away - he whispered and I froze, stiffening in fear.
- No, no, no... - I whispered, shaking my head, but it was too late. He moved between the shelves towards the door with his hands full of food, leaving me alone. I dropped everything I had in my hands and ran after him with as much strength as I had in my legs. I had no choice. A shop employee came out running after us, shouting in our direction. I ran to the car, almost killing myself on the way. I got in quickly and we started with a screech of tires, barely escaping the salesman, who ran after us, throwing insults in our direction. Ever since I got in the car, I was sitting in a huge shock, unable to believe what had just happened.
- It was so close! - he said happily, as if he was in his element. - Did you hear him insulting us? - there was a huge smile on his face, just like a child who had the adventure of life. I looked at him in disbelief, but he ignored it.
- They're looking for me - after a while, I said quietly to myself, hoping he didn't hear it.
- But they won't find you - he replied, no taking his eyes off the street. - I'm too good at this game baby - he glanced at me with a smirk and an unpleasant shudder passed over my back. We drove a few more kilometers, until finally my kidnapper pulled over and stopped the car.
- So what did you take? - he asked, unwrapping his sandwich.
- Nothing - I lowered my head and at the thought of the food I remembered how much my stomach was compressed. I got so used to this feeling that I stopped paying attention to it.
- But you chose something for yourself - the wonderful smell of food got into my nostrils.
- I'm not a thief - I said with conviction, not lifting my head.
- I knew you wouldn't be able to do it - he sounded as if he had known me forever. - You're too weak and too perfect. You and your rules... - he rolled his eyes. - Well, you don't steal, you don't eat. Natural selection, baby - a mocking smirk appeared on his face.
- You're a monster - I looked at him with anger on my face. I didn't want to say it, at least not out loud, but so much anger was boiling in me.
- What a discovery! - his arrogant tone was so annoying. Nobody raised as much negative emotions in me as he did - Mmm... it's so delicious - he said with a full mouth. I turned my back on him and fell on the back of the seat. I looked through the dirty window at the endless fields and felt a tear running down my cheek. I still hoped somewhere inside that it was just a dream, a horrible nightmare. It was the only way to comfort myself. Those crumbs of hope kept me alive. - Is the only thing you can do is cry? - he asked, irritated, but I didn't move. - Ugh... It was just a joke. I also took something for you - I was starving, but something kept me from turning to him. I don't know what I wanted to gain, but I didn't move a bit. - Can you turn around? - I think I had auditory hallucinations because I heard remorse in their voice. - Turn your fucking face to me! - he raised his voice and I jumped on the seat. As if on cue, I immediately changed position and sat down in front of him, but I didn't look in his direction, I just lowered my head. - Look at me - his voice softened, but the lack of my reaction made him angry again. - Look! - he shouted, what caused only more tears. I raised my wet face slowly and looked at him weakly, barely seeing him through the glazed eyes. - Couldn't you done it right away? Come here cry-baby - he caught my face in his hands and brushed tears with his thumbs, and because of his touch across my body went a big shiver. I couldn't understand how he could change his mood so quickly. From a cruel man after a while he became the nicest person in the world. - Here - he handed me a sandwich and a bottle of water.
