I yawned as I sat in my room, playing video games. I was bored and nothing seemed to be entertaining me. So naturally, I decided to go out to the living room, where my roommate was watching T.V.

My name is Nano. Weird name, I know, but my parents were really into sci-fi stuff, so I guess it makes sense. I'm an 18 year old man with shoulder length brown hair that couldn't be straightened by any amount of combing. My eyes were dark blue and I wore comfortable clothes: grey sweatpants and an extra large T-shirt that was too big for me, but still comfy. This was my preferred style, since I liked being comfortable over good looking, so I wasn't picky about clothes.

Anyway, I'm a high school graduate, and moved out of my parents' house soon after graduation, getting an apartment with my long time friend and roommate, Drake. Maybe it wasn't wise to move out so soon, but we were making it work.

As I entered the living room, I saw Drake fiddling with the antenna. We didn't have the money for cable yet, so we used a crappy antenna that only got a few channels. Sometimes, not even a few. Usually it only got static. Drake adjusted it for the hundredth time before he snapped and slammed the antenna on the ground hard, nearly breaking it. He then sat in his chair angrily staring at the static screen. I grabbed a soda out of the fridge and sat down in the chair beside him. Suddenly the T.V. came in almost perfect, showing a game show.

"How do you DO that?" Drake asked surprised.

"Do what?" I asked.

"That!" he pointed powerfully at the show. I looked, seeing a winning contestant on the show get his prize.

"I didn't give that guy a new car." I gave off a smart remark.

"Seriously, this happens all the time." Drake groaned, "Some crap stops working for me and the moment you walk in it's all better."

"Huh..." I pondered, opening my soda and taking a drink, "Guess somebody up there likes me. By the way this is the last soda. I'm gonna go get some more from the store later."

"You do that." Drake nodded.

Sometime later I walked down to the store and bought a 2 liter and a box of soda. I chugged from the 2 liter as I walked down the street, but paused as I felt the fizz go straight up into my nostrils with a burning sensation, an ungodly feeling that was sure to make anyone uncomfortable. As I coughed a bit to try and get the fizz out of me, I felt the ground rumble a bit beneath me. I steadied myself, then kept walking as I drank some more soda. Then the ground shook again, more violently this time, causing me to fall back as soda splashed all over my face and clothes. I groaned in embarrassment. Minor Earthquakes were fairly common in my area, so this was more annoying than anything else. I began to get up, but the earth shook a third time. This time it was followed by what sounded like thunder. Now this was getting weird, so I decided to get up and walk home quickly.

Just before I got home, the ground shook one more time. This time, I realized it wasn't a natural earthquake as I saw the thing causing it. It seemed to be a gargantuan black creature. It seemed like some kind of enormous lizard with several heads, each head glaring at me with pure red eyes.

"What the..." I breathed, looking at this seemingly mythological beast. It opened its mouths and let out a scream that sounded like thunder. My ears were ringing with pain from such a loud noise so close. I covered my ears and ran. This had to be a nightmare of some kind, but even so the beast was really freaking scary.

As I hid behind some cover, hoping the monster would leave, I noticed I felt wet all of a sudden. I looked down to see the ground for miles around had a thin blanket of water, which was quickly building up to waist-level flooding.
