"Clara! It's time to go! Now!" I yelled searching the house for Clara. I came across her bedroom and a book hit me in the face. "Ouch!" I said. "Sorry!" She added. "Seriously!" I said holding my palm to my forehead. "I was changing and that was the first thing I grabbed." She said holding her palm to her mouth. "Your college math book! That was in your backpack!?" I yelled picking up the book and throwing it back. She let out a little laugh then realized, it was obvious that she wanted to hurt her sister. "So not cool!" I said. "Again. I'm sorry." She replied. "Anyways. You ready?" I said picking up my backpack. "Yup. Just got to go get my ipad." She said heading to the kitchen counter. She picked up her iPad which was on the charger. "Let's go." She said opening the door and heading to the truck.
"Hey. By the way. Don't walk home today, stay at school for at least an hour. K?" She said as we were stopped at a stop light. "Why?" I said. "I told you last night! We are moving to an apartment that is closer to my school and yours, but. Closer to yours." She said as the light turned green. "Ok...but you better pick me up at 4:30 or I kick your butt when I'm home!" I said. "I really don't feel like being a loner!" I added. "Fine you can go somewhere just, not to the apartment. Go get some candy or something..." She said giving me twenty five bucks. "Thanks." I said putting the money in my jean pocket. "Ok, there is your school. Be good. If you do anything bad, well. I can't do anything so just. Don't die or start a shooting." Clara said. "I won't." I replied. "Ok. Out." She said. "Bye." I replied. "See ya!" She said closing the door and driving away.
A group of teens stared at me as I walked over to the entrance. Another group of teens sat there and one walked up to me. "Hey. You must be Riley? I'm Jordan." He said. "Oh! That's right I have someone to show me around the school." I said. "Oh. I'm not showing you around. That would burn away my street crud!" He laughed. "I'll do it." A guy from behind said. "Jack." Jordan said moving aside so I could see him. "Jack. Meet Riley. Riley. Meet Jack." Jordan said. "Hello." I said. "Hi." He replied. "Can I see your schedule?" He asked. "Um...sure." I said taking my schedule out of my binder and handed it to Jack. "Cool! We have all classes together!" Jack said showing me his schedule. "What a coincidence..." I said sarcastically.
"Let's go..." Jack said picking up his backpack as I picked up mine. He started to walk as another teenage female walked towards me. "Back....off...." She said giving me the look. I stood there in confusion, and started to walk.
"Hello." A teenage girl said so me as she walked over. She had purple streaks in her long brown hair. She had light blue eyes almost as if her eyes were glass and see through. "Hello?" I smiled in confusion. "I'm Kaitlyn." She said shaking my hand and smiling. "I'm Riley." I said smiling back. "Want to be friends??" She asked. "Sure." I smiled letting away a little jump. I finally had my first friend in this town! The others were so far just acquaintances. "Well...we should go! We both have the same classes so....we can walk together!" Kaitlyn said laughing. "Ok. Let's go." I replied as we entered our calculus class.
"Over here!" Jack said as Kaitlyn followed me to two desks. We sat next to each other and the teacher started to hand out assignments. "Ok class..." He said and then stared at me. "Oh! Hello there! You must be Riley Joroe?" He said shaking my hand. "Hi..." I said awkwardly. "Class this is our new student! Riley Joroe." He said pointing to me and smiling. I kept my head down as people stared, but Kaitlyn and Jack just smiled at me. "Well...ok....so. Start your assignments before calculus class ends. You have a hour and a half. Go." The teacher said looking at the clock the. Quickly moving to the front desk.
After calculus we went to History. Kaitlyn's seat was next to mine but Jack's was two rows in front. Every time he looked back he would get in trouble by Mrs. Bower. The meanest teacher I know so far. She gave me a low mark on my first day! I'm normally fantastic at History! What the heck! "Riley! Pay attention!" She smacked the ruler on the desk as I thought. "Sorry..." I appoligized. "Don't do it again!" She yelled. I put my head down and thought once again. I hate this teacher! Why do I have to have her as my history teacher!? She's horrible.
