"Dad, what's one plus one?"

"Hm, can you count with your fingers?"

---

Peter started counting on his fingers.

"One, Two," He muttered to himself, and wrote it down on his worksheet.

He was very proud of his work. He walked over to Aunt May and showed her his homework sheet.

"Look, Aunt May!" He said happily. "I finished my homework!"

May pat her nephew on the head, taking a break from chopping carrots on the table. "Good job, sweetie."

"Aunt May, where's Uncle Ben?"

"He's out, honey," May replied, before taking a short breath. "I don't think he'd care much, anyway."

"What?" Peter asked, convinced he had heard the wrong words come out of her mouth.

Of course Uncle Ben cared, didn't he?

"Don't worry about that, honey," Aunt May said, putting the now chopped carrots into a pot of chicken broth, celery, and noodles. After stirring for a bit, she poured a small bowl for peter and set it on the dining table, adding some ice cubes in so it wasn't too hot.

"Eat up, Peter!"

The six-year-old sat down and ate his soup, still proud of himself for doing his homework all by himself.
