This is always a big one people, let me break is down in all aspects.
Light skin:
•People think you think you're better than everyone because you're lighter. This goes way back to slavery time because you was in the house and they weren't.
•They label light skins as bad communicators, boujee, and self centered.
•Growing up being called "white girl," and anyone black doesn't want to be called white it just makes you feel less black than a darker complexion person.
•Light skins bruise very easily, play fighting may be a hassle.
•Light skins turn red easily, it's embarrassing because when you're embarrassed, mad, hurt/crying, annoyed it's on full display even when you don't want it to be. It will always attract attention and everyone sees it and be all in your face asking the one thing that will make you more upset, "are you okay?"
•Blushing, your crush will always know you like him or her because you blush constantly. You can't even control your blushing which makes it even worse, and you can feel yourself about to, start to, and am blushing and there's nothing you can do about it.
•People assuming you're weak and having to constantly prove yourself or show them you're not just because of your skin complexion.
•people thinking just because you're light skin you're not faithful.
•TRYING TO GET THAT SUMMER TANBrown Skin
•People arguing whether or not you're light skin or caramel.
•Being too light for some people and too dark for others.
•Being pointed out to be conceited for loving your skin.
•Getting a decent tan but not really needing one.
•People thinking your light skin friend is prettier than you because she's lighter than you.Dark Skin
•Growing up thinking dark isn't pretty.
•Learning how to love the skin you're in and have no apologies for loving it.
•People making African jokes, but aren't we all from Africa?
•People calling you blurple, black and purple, or you're so black you're purple.
•People assuming just because you're dark that you're insecure.
•Being called ugly for having darker skin.
•Random people walking up to you and just saying how pure and beautiful your skin is just because you're dark. They be so amused, white people or other races.
•Social Media just starting to appraise darker skin women.
•Just starting to see successful dark skin women, Wakanda forever.
•Being judged at job interviews because of the color of your skin.
•Barely seeing any successful dark skin women growing up.
•Growing up feeling less than and less beautiful.
•Seeing or hearing about other dark skin women bleaching their skin.
•Growing up being afraid to be in the sun too long afraid of getting any darker.⚫️⚫️⚫️⚫️⚫️⚫️⚫️⚫️⚫️⚫️⚫️⚫️⚫️⚫️
