"I really don't give a damn!" she yelled with contempt in her voice. The young girl tugged on her hair in frustration before stomping out the door, not forgetting to grab her car keys. Beyond irritated, she hastily started the car and backed out of the driveway. Since morning till then, midnight, her day had been far too stressful for her to handle. However, once she was on the road, she instantly relaxed and cleared her head.
The thing about Eden was that when she was stressed, she had to go on a drive through the calm forest nearby no matter what. It was her escape - had been for the past three years since she learned about the place. Driving made her feel alive and gave her the chills - in a good way. Her parents knew that and yet, they tried to stop her. All for some stupid rumour that there was an assassin out to get people here. Didn't her parents know better then to believe rumours that didn't have any reliable information to back it up? It was obviously fake!
Yet, at the very back of her mind, there was a nagging doubt about it being false. Still, she didn't turn back and continued on to the road that cut through a forest thick with trees. A dark and mysterious forest at midnight, she noticed for the first time. She was feeling uncomfortable and was slowly panicking, but she didn't want to admit it to herself. Never had she felt uncomfortable in a car before, save for the first ten seconds when she first put her hands on the wheel, so she wasn't about to ruin her safe place for a silly rumor.
All of a sudden, the hair on the back of her neck stood up. She felt as though someone was watching her and gave her the chills - and definitely not in the good way. She was afraid, she realized, and she could no longer ignore that fact. Looking left and right out the window did nothing to assure her. There was not a living thing in sight. Finally, she shut her eyes tightly, willing herself to calm down.
When her eyes opened, they opened wide in horror and the car abruptly turned away and came to a screeching halt before it hit a tree. Her breathing became irregular in panic and she just froze there for a few seconds. She saw something there on the road. She didn't know what exactly, but she knew she saw something terrifying.
Suddenly, the driver's door slammed open. She looked at the black hooded figure holding a knife and opened her mouth to shriek, but nothing came out. It was like the figure had stolen her voice. Her body trembled as she peered under the black hood, and in an instant, she blacked out with one terrifying thought—It was faceless.
