ARMOUR

PROLOGUE

Lily and James were tired of fighting. They were just too different and as much as he promised to change for her, she didn't want him to lose his personality that always seem to brighten a room. No, she wasn't that type of girl and they both knew it. 

It had been five years since they came out of Hogwarts; three years they started going out but it was sad to say Lily lost the sparked that got them going. Maybe it was that they were just too young or the impending war but one thing she was sure of, and that was that she had to leave him and stop giving him false hopes for marriage, it wasn't fair to him and to herself.

On there way home James could tell that Lily was a bit anxious but kept quiet until they reach home. Lily fiddled with her hands, a bit nervous to his reaction as she knew that this boy had loved her for a very long time. As they entered the house James decided to ask "what's wrong lily? You've been acting weird all day".

Come on Lily just say it quickly before you change your mind... "I want to break up"

He gentle smile fell as quickly as those word came out of her mouth, tears threatened to fall as his lips quivered "what"

She felt heartbroken just watching his face but she knew it was the right thing to do "I'm sorry james! I know you weren't expecting this and please don't think you did anything wrong its just me and I know it's such a  cliche thing to say but I'm not ready for this their just so many things I want to do in my life alone and with this war against my kind, yes my kind because his targeting muggleborns and you know it, I'm going to leave for a while and I think with my sister getting a new job in America I'm going to go with her" tears falling from both of their faces.

He kept quiet for a while and Lily thought he would hate her which is probably the last thing she wanted " please say something!! Anything, yell at me if you want just let me know what your thinking james!" .
All that was running in James' mind was that he had to have made something wrong to make her want to leave, did she think he couldn't protect her from the Dark Lord, was he that much of a failure that his own girlfriend and soon to be wife in his mind didn't think he could keep her safe. He was over thinking everything and only snapped out of it when he heard her tell him to yell at her, so he spoke " I'm not mad Lily! if you want to leave I must have done something wrong.. I must have done something to-".

"Please stop, James you are one of the kindest, most noblest man I know. There is nothing wrong with you its me, I know you see me as this girl who can do no wrong but that's not true I'm flawed more than you care to admit!".

 A moment of silence passed and she continued

"I love you James I do but i don't think it's in the way you want it to be and I'm sorry I'm just telling you this now but i can't keep lying to you or myself or to everyone, please understand that I never meant to hurt you! Please say something James!".
He took a deep breathe, he didn't want to lose her not after everything he went through to get her but he knew that she had made up her mind and he knew there was nothing that could change that, he knew her better than anyone as he also knew they were meant to be even if she doesn't see that now. He didn't want to lose her or stay out of touch with her so he went for the next best thing he could think of and whispered " Can we still be friends?" Tears still present on both of their faces. 

Lily let out a small laugh and said "yes, yes we can. I don't want to lose you James you have been a good friend in a time of need and you also make excellent seafood dishes". They both laughed at that because they both knew it was James who got her into seafood in the first place as she didn't like it that much.

"Please take care of yourself James! I know you and I don't want you to do something you'll regret. We can write to each other and try to keep up with what's to happen in our lives. I'll probably join MACUSA  And I know you'll join the aurors department in the ministry. We'll make a lives for ourselves James a new start even with the dark Lord around I know you'll bring in the death eaters and lock them in Azkaban, you'll make a me proud James I know you will and most of all you will move on James find someone who will love you like I never could! And I'll  be happy for you".

"Thank you Lily. I'm sorry things didn't work out for us now but i still have hope that you will see that we are meant to be and I don't care how long that takes. MACUSA will be lucky to have you, they will gain an extraordinary witch I'm sure of it. And the letters sounds great maybe I even go visit you if you allow it, padfoot always wanted to go to America and take a picture with that green lady in the huge Apple".

Lily barked out a laugh and said "It's called the big Apple James!! Or New  York and that green lady is properly called the statue of liberty. " as she finish laughing she walked up to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek and said goodbye for now and left the house.

As she was out the door she took a deep breathe and dissaperrated.
