"So Jisoo-yah, I really think you'll like your new bedroom. Its got a beautiful balcony with glass doors and a large closet for all your clothes and its much bigger than your room at our old house..." Her talking only stopped when she looked in the rear view mirror and noticed that the person she was talking to wasn't even paying attention, which meant her excited words had all fallen on deaf ears. "Jisoo-yah! Kim Jisoo, I am talking to you! Don't you know its rude to ignore an adult when they have something to say?"
Pulling the ear buds out of her ears and turning down the music on her phone, she finally paid attention to her mother who was in the front passenger seat babbling on about how great their new house was, while quite honestly, Jisoo could not care any less. She never wanted to leave Bucheon, it was the place she was born and where she grew up. It was where she went to school, and where her friends, or her one friend more accurately, lived. But her father, Kim Yu Jin, recently decided to branch out from his company and start one of his own He was in the advertising business and he thought he would make better money if he moved himself and his family out to Seoul. Jisoo did not want to move to a new house in a new city, but it wasn't like they had asked for her opinion on the matter.
Like in a typical Korean family, her father was the head of the house, and the bread winner. Her mother, Kim Ko Eun, was a typical housewife with a happy-go-lucky attitude who always wore a smile on her face. Despite the couple having a whopping eleven kids, they had a comfortable life of luxuries and could afford to live in a big house with only one of the spouses having a job.
Her attitude was the exact opposite of her only daughter Jisoo.
Sixteen year old Jisoo rolled her eyes in annoyance, "Yes, Ko Eun." She often called her mother by her first name to annoy her. "I'm sure I'll like it just the same as I liked my room back in Bucheon."
She just wanted to get back to listening to music, and ignoring the outside world. In fact, she wanted to get back on the plane and return to Bucheon with her friends and everything she had ever known. Jisoo wasn't very fond of change, if she had to admit.
"You know you're not supposed to call me Ko Eun. If anyone hears you, they'll think I raised a cave person. I am eomma to you. Or eommonie." Mrs. Kim scolded her rebellious sixteen year old daughter. Then she almost instantly continued going on about the new house with her ever same positive attitude. "And we'll actually have a large backyard for your brother Minseok to practice his football skills." Her mother added with excitement.
"Minseok didn't even come with us." Jisoo pointed out bitterly. "Half of my brothers stayed in Bucheon because they can."
Her older brothers Jonghyun, Junmyeon, Kibum, Minseok, and Seokjin had chosen to stay in their home town. They were already old enough to make their own decisions and were attending university there. With the help of their father and part time jobs they had during the school semester, the five of them rented a three bedroom flat. They had promised the family that they would visit them over the winter and summer vacations, but Jisoo didn't feel like it was the same. Especially with her older brother Minseok. She had always been closest with him growing up and she was honestly hurt that he had chosen to stay without her. Due to that, her older brother Jongdae had proclaimed himself as the oldest in the family, with his five older brothers now out of the house.
Her brother Jongdae scoffed in amusement, "You actually think Jisoo is gonna be happy about something? It will be a cold day in Hell before this girl smiles."
"Please shut up, Dae." Jisoo punched her brother's shoulder harshly, making him wince in pain.
Out of the brothers who had moved with the family, Jongdae was the oldest at nineteen years old. Jongdae was like both their parents, always happy, always smiling, and always whining. They were the perfect people in town with their perfect dark hair, dark brown eyes, and perfect smiles. All her brothers were the same--all of them happy, all of them handsome, and all of them perfect. Sometimes she felt like she was adopted, since she always felt like a big ball of bitterness. Her next oldest brother was Jongin, who was eighteen and had graduated high school just months earlier and had applied to a performing arts university in Seoul. His biggest dream was to become a dancer and perform in famous ballets. He was the same age as their brother Namjoon, who was his fraternal twin. Namjoon was also very keen on music and he wanted to be a rap performer. Taehyung was Jisoo's twin brother, and he would be studying at the same school as her. The last of their family and the last to be born was her youngest brother Doyoung who was only one year and five months younger than her.
