Despite Yoongi's objection for someone else to train him, his father insisted on it being Dahyun. He felt unheard once again and decided to just do what his father asked and get it over with. If he fought it anymore, he knew his father had made arrangements to move him away and disown him. Even if he hated the idea of being King, he hated loneliness and being exiled from his home even more.
Yoongi was fast asleep at 6 am with no intentions of getting up until after noon when someone burst into his room.
"Good Morning Your Highness!" yelled the voice he recognized as Dahyun. Yoongi didn't move hoping she would think he was in a deep sleep and leave him alone but instead he felt ice cold water being thrown on his head.
"Yah! What the fuck is wrong with you??!!?!" he said sitting up right in anger looking at Dahyun who looked shocked at his words.
"Watch your mouth! Get dressed and meet me downstairs, we start your lessons now." she said and left in a fury. Yoongi stared after her in complete disbelief. He was not one to be controlled and certainly not by some bratty Duchess. He got out of bed and found some casual clothes before getting in the shower.
Fifteen minutes later Yoongi descended the stairs and saw Dahyun waiting with a clipboard and ruler in her hand. Yoongi sighed and rolled his eyes. "This will be fun." He mumbled sarcastically.
"How much do you know about riding a horse?" She asked cheerfully while looking down at what looked to be a checklist that Yoongi tried to look at before Dahyun pulled it away quickly.
"Does my red and black mustang with 200 horsepower count?"
"Obviously not." she marked her list. "Do you know the difference between an appetizer and a snack?"
"That's a thing to know? One is chips and one is hot wings. Easy. Check that off as a pass." Yoongi said confidently.
"Who raised you? That woman who clings to his Majesty looks 2 years older than me. Is she to blame for your horrible royalty knowledge?" Yoongi scoffed at her words and walked down the long hallway to the kitchen where Jin was eating at the counter. Yoongi didn't acknowledge him and simply went in the fridge to look for food.
"Hey! Don't walk away when I'm talking to you!" Dahyun said as she appeared in the kitchen when she saw Jin. "Oh Hi Your Highness. How are you?" She said and bowed respectfully.
"I'm great. Just eating before I go off to a marriage meeting. You look very pretty." Jin said finishing off his food.
"Thank you. Your Highness." Dahyun blushed. She always had a crush on the eldest prince but knew her chances were nonexistent. Jin was the more handsome one to Dahyun. And he had better manners. "Yoongi we should go--" Dahyun looked around the kitchen and saw that Yoongi had left. "Where did he go?" She asked and looked to Jin who shrugged.
"You're the babysitter and you already lost the baby." He chuckled and left a shocked Dahyun in the kitchen.

Yoongi had escaped to the sun room. It was his mother's favorite place to be when she wanted to read or play one of her instruments. Yoongi was closer to his mom and she seemed to dote on him too. She was a free spirit and a rebel who was not a favored Queen but loved all the same. Yoongi was just like her and when she passed away when he was 13, it devastated him.
Jin took her death harshly as well and ran off to war to cope. The King, however turned to marrying extremely young women and taking out his anger on Yoongi for not being Jin, not being the Queen, simply not being enough.
Yoongi walked around and found a water pail to water the various flowers around the room. "He has me training to be a prince. He has a duchess training me to be a prince." Yoongi shook his head as he thought about the whole situation. "I'm 24 for Christsake."
"This is where you ran to!" Dahyun said finding Yoongi. "Woah this room is beautiful, is it yours?" She asked and picked up a guitar to admire it.
"Put that down." He said grabbing the guitar and placing it back down. "This was the Queen's favorite room. I'm here most of the time so...yeah I guess it is mine now." Yoongi said sadly.
"I liked the Queen. Much of the kingdom thought she was careless and unfit to rule but she was awesome." Dahyun said remembering the late Queen. "Well we should head out to start training. Let's go."
"Where are we going? The sun hasn't peaked yet."
"We are going to the marketplace to talk to some of the people you rule. Get perspective on what the kingdom is for those who aren't royal." Yoongi rolled his eyes and sighed heavily.
"You're just one cliche after another I see. The kingdom is just fine. Let's do anything else." Dahyun grabbed his hand and pulled him out towards the stairs so they could leave.

They arrived at the marketplace and it was buzzing with life. There were hundreds of merchants and townspeople talking and walking around. Yoongi looked around a bit bored, still not seeing the point. He wasn't out of touch with anything outside of royalty. He envied the lives of those who got excited to come to a place like this. Their biggest worries were probably small compared to his.
They would soon have a King who doesn't want the throne and having an entire country on your shoulders was enough to make Yoongi want to hide away.
"Yoongi! Over here! Come try these!" Dahyun said waving him over to a food stand that served beef and veggie skewers. Yoongi walked up and looked over the food before choosing one and taking a bite.
"Its amazing right?" Dahyun asked while eating her own. "Ma'am could you give us 4 please?"
"Its will be 70 silver." said the merchant. Yoongi almost choked on his food hearing the price.
"70 silver?! That's unreasonable. She only asked for 4 and they aren't worth 10 silver." Yoongi said angrily.
"Your Highness. Its ok, that price is pretty good actually." Dahyun said handing the merchant the money.
"Dahyun 70 silvers for food is ridiculous."
"Ask her why its that price."
"Because she is a con woman!"
"Yah watch your mouth! She is right there."
"Fine. Lady why are you charging so much for this food?" Yoongi said crossing his arms and waiting to hear some bull shit about her prices.
"The taxes are really high on the food I use to make my skewers and they raised the prices on our leases to even sell in the market. I promise I'm not swindling Your Highness." The merchant said and bowed her head.
"How often do they raise taxes and the lease prices?" Yoongi asked becoming more understanding.
"Every 2 or 3 weeks." Yoongi was surprised to hear that and for the first time felt out of touch.
"I'll look into it. I'm sorry for misunderstanding." Yoongi said and bowed apologetically before walking away.
"Did you know your father was raising taxes so often?" Dahyun asked Yoongi as they continued to walk through the market.
"No. I try to stay out of his affairs but I didn't know he was being so...greedy."
"That's not the worst of it. Come on let's go to the preschool. There is something you should see."
"I don't like kids. We should head back. I'm tired."
"Aigoo don't be such a prince." Dahyun once again dragged Yoongi to there next location.
