"You should shower and change." She smiled at Red Riot. "You stink."
He sniffed his armpit and sighed. She was right, he would have to change, to take off the mask. "Fine." He grumbled. "But you have to leave first."
"Fine you prune." I'll leave out some clothes on the bed and... Dispose of your suit."He nodded in thanks before shuffling to the door labeled bathroom. He was surprised by what he found. The bath was the size of a fucking Olympic swimming pool and while none of it was solid gold, the quality was so good it might as well have been.
A feeling of dread grew in Red Riot's stomach as he took off his suit and left it folded just outside the door. He would probably never see it again. He knew when he had started that it wouldn't last forever but removing that part of his life made Hiro want to puke. He had removed the one thing that had protected those he loved from his lifestyle, he had removed his mask.
The water in the shallows reached up to Hiro's chin and was cool, like the ocean in summer. He relaxed slightly and began to scrub off the layers of filth that had piled up over his skin. Keep your guard up. The part of him that had grown with his time as a hero had whispered. Its not over.
But it was, and just the thought made him feel hollow.
