Prologue
Looking outside longingly was a seven year old girl. The young girl's name was Nat, and it just so happens that today she was planning on actually going outside to play, rather than sitting inside playing video games. Nature didn't agree with her wanting though because it was raining, so Nat just simply looked outside hoping that the rain would stop soon so her craving of the sun wouldn't have gone to waste. Until then though, she decided to indeed play video games as she waited for the sky to stop crying.
She made her way to her room. Different posters aranged her room, such as the posters she got at the bookfair at school, or some drawings she did that she was fairly proud of. Sitting on the edge of her bed, she flipped her game console on. The game that came on was Paper Mario. Nat flicked the control stick to get to her profile. It brought her to her last saved game. So she played for hours, just running away from most battles, talking to toads, and not playing the game right.
Then some sudden knocking was heard, so Nat paused her game to answer the person knocking. She figured it either came from her bedroom door or the front door. After finding out it didn't come from her bedroom door, she went to the front. Nat opened to find no one. Shrugging her shoulders, she went back to her room. Closing her door, she heard the knocking again, but she didn't bother answering. Instead, she took a look outside to see how the weather was now. As the seven year old peered outside, she saw a boy about her age looking in from the closed window. She lifted a brow just before the boy knocked on her window. She opened her window, hoping to get some answers.
When the boy stepped inside, Nat looked outside to see how this boy was able to get to her window; the window was on the third floor of the apartment. What she saw was very curious, it was a huge red balloon and it appeared to have a mustache on it.
"Thanks for letting me in," the boy said smiling, pulling Nat out of her thoughts.
Nat looked at the boy, taking in everything about him. He had gravity defying black hair, white wings, and what seemed to be a very heavy metal clasp. She noticed that the clasp didn't look like it bothered him at all. Nat didn't what to ask him about his appearence because she remembered her mother telling her that people might take that as an insult.
"You're welcome," Nat said smiling back.
The boy scratched his arm.
"Um, what's your name?"
She told the boy to just call her Nat (but he found out her full name later).
"What about you," Nat asked.
"Oh, well you can just call me Bow!" (Nat never found out his full name.)
"Okay. Um, do you want a towel to dry off with?"
Bow looked at the floor, realizing that he was making a wet mess. He looked back up at Nat and smiled sheepishly.
"Yes please."
Nat walked out of the room for a moment, only to return with a dry, blue towel. She handed it to Bow, which he took with no hesitation. This caused Nat to smile softly. Bow quickly wrapped his body around the towel. The girl let out a giggle.
"Why are you laughing at me," Bow asked as his face pouted.
"I'm laughing because with the towel around you, you look like a borrito!"
"Oh..."
"Uh, you wanna play some Paper Mario?"
"Heck yeah!"
