I have racing in my blood. I didn't realize how bad it was until a few years ago, my mom found out that her dad loved racing also. At this point we already new that my dad's dad, and my dad's uncles worked on race cars and even one of them raced them, I knew that for a while. We also know that there is some people on my moms side that are big into racing and we think that I am related to a NASCAR driver, but we are unsure.
Anyways, about a week ago I went to my dads uncle's funeral, I barely knew him, but when we walked in I saw the table that had the guest book on there, the table was covered with checkered flags and other things to do with racing. I knew that he liked racing I just didn't know he loved it that much. On the table next to it was all of the pictures of him racing cars and it had John Force (a NHRA drag racer) hats on there and also checkered flags. I told my mom this was how my funeral would be, just because I love the sport so much that anyone who is close to me knows how much I love it.
I never realized how strong it was in my family. I always say to my family, if you cut me you will smell the racing fuel in my blood. It's so strong in my family and now I know why I easily got drawn to it. It's so strong in my blood and it has always been there, all I needed was that spark that ignited the fire.
Now that spark happened back in April 2011. Now my cousin turned 21 that year and so my entire family decided to go down to Vegas to celebrate. Well the NHRA happened to be down there, but our family was only going to be down there until Saturday. So my mom, my dad and I decided to stay for the NHRA race, I had no idea what it was but I was just happy to be on vacation. So when I went to the race I loved it, it became a memory that I carry with me all the time. I know that this was the spark that ignited my obsession.
I always had a Jeff Gordon diecast in my house that is a loney tunes car. I really liked that car and my dad always watched NASCAR so I really wanted to go to a race. I begged my parents to go and I finally I went it my first NASCAR race in 2013, and that is when I decided what I wanted to do for a living.
I decided I wanted to do something in racing. My goal is to become a NASCAR crew chief but I have a back up plan if that doesn't happen. All I know is I want my future to involve racing. I want to travel the country with the people that are my "family" and be in the racing world.
Like I said racing is in my blood and it has been there all along, I just had to have the spark to let it show through and for me to realize it's there.
