Amelia had it bad. Her face red as a tomato. Stiff as a board. Every time it happened I can't help but get second hand embarrassment from the way she reacts. I never would've thought that it would happen like this. But then again I find it too easy to talk to others. Even crushes.

That's right. Amelia E. Jones has a crush. And not just any crush. A full blown head over heals, Love at first sight crush. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. It's cute in a way. And I'm somehow caught in the middle.

Sakura Honda. 15 years old and has a secret obsession with magical girls. Her looks are what makes her popular. Not to mention the politeness. Her small stature and perfect makeup has boys following her like moths to light. Most girls are jealous, but wouldn't say it to her face. And yet she seems to not care. She focuses on grades.

Her and I had become friends about a year ago. She met my little sister when I had her over to go over our homework for the break. We were 14 at the time. Amelia was 13. They became friends quickly. Bonded over books. They both shared a strong love for Lunar Chronicles. They argued over who was best. Winter always won.

Now here we stand. I can't specifically say when it happened, but Amelia adopted obvious feelings for my friend. Sakura knows , but doesn't feel like saying anything. The truth is, she's scared that it might not work out. She'd rather stay friends for now.

"Morning Sakura," my sister greets.

"Good morning," Sakura waves. She has a small smile. A light blush seems to have appeared as well. "How are you doing today?"

"Pretty good, you?" Amelia replies with a grin.

"I am fine, thanks," she began to walk with us down the hall.

They continue to make small talk. I smile and talk as well. They carry the conversation mostly. The two really like each other. I wish they would just admit it already. I find myself observing them and how they act around each other. It's adorable how awkward they get.

It's been a few months now and I think I found a way to get them together. I'll have them write their feelings.

I had Amelia write down what she thinks Love is. I'm reading this to make sure it's good.

Love is talking. Talking about simple things and laughing.
Love is laughing. Laughing at stupid jokes that aren't really funny.
Love is smiling. Smiling beautifully at just the right time.
Love is sass. Sassy and sarcastic when need be.
Love is hugs. Hugs for every occasion.
Love is touch. Touching each other for warmth and comfort.
Love is feeling. That feeling if butterflies and warm blankets.
Love is time. Time in each other's company. Love is books. The smell of books and tea, something you love.
Love is what I feel for you.

Love,
            Amelia

We walked up to the building. The halls were white. There was movement everywhere. My sister kept her head down.

She lay in bed. Face pale. Eyes closed. We were worried. I never would have thought that it would be like this.

Amelia started crying. She leaned over the bed, holding Sakura's hand. I've never seen her like this. Face red. Stiff as a board.

She began to open her eyes. So gentle even now. Sakura Honda. Age 16 and so gentle you would never guess what she was facing. I remembered what she said.

"My favorite character is Cress. She doesn't have to be a fighter. She can hack into anything. That's why she's the best!"

"But if only peony had a little more time. I would have loved to see her grow with the rest."

Sakura Honda was dying. My sister quietly recited what she wrote. Only she ended it a bit differently.

Love is fighting. Fighting against something powerful.
Love is you. How you fight for your life when no one else can.
Love is us. Our bond. Love is us....

Amelia had leaned over and kissed her. It didn't last long, for Sakura had fallen back asleep. But it was enough. It was her way of goodbye.

A few days later we got news. Sakura Honda. Age 17 who never thought she'd make that far. Died.

The funeral was a blur to me. Amelia was distant. She buried the note with her. Tears fell like waterfalls that day.

Yes, Amelia had it bad. But it only got worse.

I was feeling angsty. Sorry if this made you cry. Sure made me cry. Also the narrator is Nyotalia Canada. Hope you enjoyed!
