Today was a new day, a new beginning.
Especially for these new campers coming in. These two new campers are named Olive and Oliver. They grew up in a rich neighborhood with a busy family. Their lives only consisted of candle parties, playing games with rich kids on the block, and modeling along with songwriting. Eventually, they grew bored from the daily life in their neighborhood and their father could see it in their eyes. They wanted to do more, try something new, meet new people, visit various different places, and try out many fun activities like camping, going hiking in the woods and nature walks, making things, kayaking, and many more. Today, they will finally get a chance to experience it all because today they will begin their new journey at two camps called Camp Kidney and Acorn Flats. Oliver looked over at his sister who was twiddling her thumbs, nervously as she stares out the window. "Olive." Oliver said as he gently placed his hand on his twin sister's shoulder, causing her to look back at him, an expression of shyness and fear. "There's nothing to be nervous about. We experiencing a whole new place, life, and possibly new people who will become our new friends." He said, trying to comfort the female red fox.
"I-I know... I shouldn't be.. it's just that I'm nervous about meeting these new people and how they'll react towards us, mostly me. I don't know if the girl's will like and get along with me or just think that I'm just some rich stuck up snob of the entire camp. You know how others sometimes think of what the rich people are like..." Olive hugged her knees and buried her face in her arms. "There there..." The male fox twin frowned. "I highly doubt that'll happen. You're a very sweet girl with a great big heart and if none of them girl scouts think otherwise, then shame on them. You're honest, loyal, and very sweet to be a snob in my opinion." Olive looks at her brother with a smile. "Thank you, Oliver..."
Soon the one bus came to a stop uptown at what seemed to be a tiny town filled with little shops restaurants and straight ahead was a doc. Further ahead was Leaky Lake. The twins looked at the scenery and exited the bus. The sun's warmth engulfs them as with they enjoyed seeing a town so small and different from their own.
It felt nice to be somewhere new for once and interesting but they also remembered that they needed to find their buses to take them to their own camps. Olive and Oliver searched together for the two buses. After minutes of searching and getting distracted by a few stores (due to Olive for the most part) they found them. Outside the two buses, awaited a pale yellow slug and a warthog in uniforms. Olive looked at Oliver and smiled nervously. "I believe this is where the fun begins? A new step in our lives? Heh heh.. I wish you the best of luck on your journey as a camper." "I wish you the same Olive." Oliver smiled as they tightly hugged. They've been inseparable throughout their entire lives and this will be the first time trying out something new on their own.
"Goodbye, Olive. I want you to have fun and remember what I said, no matter what anyone says, you will always be the good sister I know." Oliver reminded, kindly." As they gently separate from the hug, Olive smiled and nodded. "Yes, Oliver. I'll always remember that. Goodbye, Oliver." And with that, they went to their buses, carrying their carry on bags with them.
Oliver made his way over to the Slug who was holding a clipboard and a pencil. "Ah, you must be Oliver, right?" He asked as Oliver nodded. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Oliver. I'm Slinkman and I will be driving you to the campground you will be staying at." Slinkman smiled. Oliver knew it in his heart that he's gonna enjoy Camp Kidney but he tried to keep it cool. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Mr. Slinkman, Sir." Oliver shook his hand as he politely greeted back. He made his way on to the bus and took a seat in the front. Once he was seated, he pulled out his iPod and inserted an earbud into his right ear, leaving the left earbud out incase of a conversation starting which could be at any moment throughout the rest of the way to camp. "Hello, I'm Ms. Mucus, you must be Olive." Ms. Mucus said while writing a little checkmark in the small box next to Olive's name. Olive nodded, feeling a bit uncomfortable by the expression on her daily glare. "Get on the bus and take your seat." Ms. Mucus commanded sharply and Olive immediately obeyed the order, swiftly walking up the steps of the bus, taking a seat once she got on. She didn't wanna make a peep, not a sound, especially since she was now on her own without her brother around. She wasn't sure on how to cope without Oliver since they've been inseparable since birth. Eventually she's gonna have to learn and today she's gonna figure out how. She lightly exhaled and looked out the window as the bus was taking off. The ride to Acorn Flats was silent.
On the other hand, Oliver was quite excited to become a new addition to the bean scouts. He was curious of a few things though. "Mr. Slinkman, Sir?" Oliver spoke up, trying to get the driving Slug's attention. "Yes, Oliver?" Slinkman responded while keeping his eyes on the empty road ahead. "Will I have to fill out any papers or have any kind of ID? Sorry for such uneducated questions but I was just curious if that since I've never stayed at a camp before." Oliver asked. "No, not all. Your parents and I have already discussed and saved some files and info for you in an envelope locked up safe with Scoutmaster Lumpus so you have nothing to worry about. Everything is just fine" He assured the curious fox. Oliver smiled and exhaled lightly with relief. "Another question. Who will I share a cabin with, is it optional or will that be selected for me?" "Scoutmaster Lumpus is the one who makes the decisions and I assist him with that so we'll make sure you get a cabin with campers that you will get along with. You see Camp Kidney is filled with wonderful campers who are friendly and fun but sometimes they get off to a rough start depending on the camper on the campground but there is nothing to fear. I'm sure you will all get along just fine." Slinkman smiled. Oliver smiled as well. Soon enough there was a sign ahead captioned 'Welcome to Camp Kidney' as a title and from there, Oliver knew, his journey as a bean scout is about to begin.
