After a busy and exhausting Monday, Ishita reached home just in time to witness an amusing scene.
Ruhi was giggling and running around in the hall with a very pissed- looking Rinki trying to catch hold of her.
"RUHI RAMAN BHALLA!! Stop right there!"
Ruhi hid behind her daadi and peeked at her Bua.
Standing at the door, Ishita cleared her throat loudly. Seeing her mother, Ruhi shrank further behind her grandmother, as though it will make her invisible, which confirmed Ishita's doubt that she has done some mischief.
"Toh kya kiya hai Madam ne?" she enquired as she entered. (What did she do?)
"Bhabheee..." Rinki whined and came to her.
Taking the chance, Ruhi ran towards her parents' bedroom.
"Bhaag ke koyi faayda nahin beta.. Aaj toh pakka Ishima se daant padh ne waali hai !!" Rinki shouted after her and turned back to Ishita.
(No point in running away. You are going to get an earful from your Ishima for this.)
"Bhabhi mere helmet ke ander talcum powder bhar diya aap ki laadli ne...yeh shaitaani kar ke school gayi thi aaj subah. Maine toh notice hi nahin kiya aur jaldi jaldi mein bina head scarf ke hi pehen liya."
(She dumped talcum powder in my helmet. She did this mischief in the morning before going to school. I didn't notice it and I was in such a hurry that I wore the helmet without the head scarf.)
Toshi clamped a hand over her mouth to stifle her laugh, but it sputtered out. "Shakal dekhni thi iski.."
(You should have seen her face)
"Mamma aap na-"
"Chup kar oye..iss umar main shaitani nahin karegi toh kab karegi? Bacchi hai!" Toshi snubbed her. (O shut up! She's just a kid and at this age she'd do this kind of mischief.)
Neelu who had been busy working in the kitchen came forward a bit hesitantly.
"Bhabhi woh.. Mere cchaate mein bhi powder tha.. Dopeher ko main kuch samaan lene nikli thi aur chhata kholo toh. .." (I found some powder in my umbrella too, when I stepped out in the afternoon to go to the store.)
"Aiyyo!" Ishita kept her hand on her head.
"Tabhi main sochu mere talcum powder ka tin itna halka kaise ho gaya.." Toshi had a realization which made Rinki snigger. ( oh! That's why the powder tin has become lighter all of a sudden.)
Ishita shook her head, wondering where she learnt this from and made her way to the bedroom.
"Bhabhi tell her she is banned from my room"
Ishita turned to look at Rinki with an amused expression on her face.
"Nahin .. Iss baar sacchi mein!" Rinki tried to sound resolute. (This time for real.)
"Chal Oye!! Badi aayi ban kar ne waali," Toshi snubbed her daughter again. (Who are you to ban her?)
Ruhi had the habit of hiding behind doors, and when the person who comes looking for her would enter and move further inside the room, she would sneak out from behind them and find a new hiding place. So stepping in silently, Ishita closed the door swiftly and grabbed the little tyke before she could run away.
Ruhi squealed and tried to wriggle out of her hold. "No Ishimaaa..Let me gooo!! ."
"Yeh powder wala prank kahan se seekha aap ne?" Sitting down on the bed, she caged Ruhi between her legs by locking her ankles around Ruhi's legs. (Where did you learn this prank from?)
