"Go with you to where?" I was a bit hesitant to grasp her offered hand, but I couldn't help but notice that her fingers were long and delicate. She seemed like a dancer with her lithe and thin frame, but I could feel a ferocity coming off of her that contrasted her physique. She was not someone you wanted to mess with.
Her eyes were trying to meet my own, but I was avoiding her stare by looking over her shoulder into the small hallway that lay behind her. The walls were plaster with white and black stripes about an inch or so long decorating them. The floor was the same color of carpet as our rooms, and the door across from us was of the same light plain wood as our front door and bathroom door. The only difference was that the number on that door was 208, belonging to Tom and Mike, while our door had 207 on it.
"I want to show you something outside, okay?" She was bouncing a slight bit on her toes, trying to meet my eyes. Sighing, I decided that I just wanted to get some sleep.
"Sorry, but I don't really care to go anywhere right now. I'm going to go to bed now, but maybe you can show me whatever it is you want to show me some other time, okay?" I was trying to be polite, but there was no hesitation in my movements as I quickly began to close the door. However, she took me by surprise when she stopped the door with her left hand and casually walked inside my room.
"It won't take long, so just hurry up and get dressed," she said while digging into a square, white clothes basket that was on the ground to the right of the bunk beds. There was another one on the left of it, which was sandwiched in between the bottom bunk's foot board and my basket. It belonged to Ryan, but it was empty, seeing as how we had really just moved in today and he hadn't changed after class.
I was so shocked by her audacity that I just stood by the door, unsure what to say. She didn't seem to care, however, because she simply picked out my jeans from the basket, opened the bathroom door, and threw it onto the smooth granite sink. She looked back at me and made a shooing gesture with her hand towards the bathroom while stepping back to allow me access through the doorway.
I'm not sure what came over me, but I was so tired that I didn't even say anything. I just dragged my feet into the bathroom, changed out of my shorts and into my jeans, stepped out of the bathroom to slip on my shoes, and followed Em out of my room. She didn't seem embarrassed in the slightest to be seen coming out of my room, but out of the five or six people walking up and down the hall, no one seemed to notice her, so I assumed that there wouldn't be rumors spreading around.
She was a fast walker, and I had to practically jog to keep up with her. She was still dressed in her clothes from class earlier, and I wondered briefly if this was her usual attire. Shaking my head as I tried to fight my sleepiness, I turned to face her and ask a question as we came closer to the end of the hall.
"So what did you want to show me?" She didn't answer right away, instead flashing me a brief devilish grin, and I knew that I wouldn't be too excited to see whatever it was that she had planned. We reached the end of the hallway, opened the metal doors by pushing on the bar that ran horizontal across it, and stepped out into the bright sunlight of the outdoors.
It was only about four twenty, and a lot more students could be seen wandering around the campus than inside the dorm. Black Academy had a High School dorm and a College dorm, which were placed at opposite ends of the campus. The high school students weren't supposed to be near the College dorm, and vice versa. However, Em seemed to be leading us straight to the College dorm, and I heaved a loud sigh.
She didn't even turn around to acknowledge me, keeping up her quick pace while I slowly lagged behind. As I watched her, I saw that she had to constantly move to get out of the way of other students, otherwise they would run into her. For all her beauty, she didn't seem to be getting any attention, and I realized that I envied her.
