Chapter 1
I look away. Unable to move. I’m scared to look at her. Afraid of what I would see. Pale face, limp body, and blood.
At the thought of that, I look down at my hands. Surely enough, they are covered in a warm red substance.
My eyes trail off and land on her body. I feel sick to my stomach. It is worse than I thought. The sister I once knew and loved wasn’t there anymore. Her brown eyes have no life in them. Her body lay in such a stiff position. Not to mention the blood. It’s everywhere. Open wounds are scattered all over her body. There are multiple bullet holes. What kind of human being would do this?
My vision is becoming blurry. Instantly tears start to flow.
She was only eleven! Lauren had a full life ahead of her. But now it’s all gone. She will never be able to go to prom. She will never graduate high school. She will never be able to walk down the aisle with the one she loves. She will never have a family of her own. There is so many things that Lauren won’t be able to do. Because she’s gone.
Why did he do this? Lauren was such a good kid. No one deserves this kind of pain.
I was too late. To late to save her. The only thing I can do is watch her bleed.
I leaned down and whispered into her ear. “I promise I will find him.”
