Chapter One:

Will

I hate being the new kid. Everyone tries to find a label for you, and honestly, I was done with that. I'd only been a new kid twice before, and that was kindergarten and middle school, where everyone is a new kid. So, walking to my locker, I got a ton of looks. Then, a boy with black hair and sea green eyes came over to me. He had his arm wrapped around the waist of a blonde girl with intimidating gray eyes.

"Hi," the girl said. "I'm Annabeth, and this is my boyfriend Percy."

"Nice to meet you two," I say, grabbing the books I'll need.

"Do you want to hang out with us at lunch? It's okay if you don't want to, it's just you seem like you'd fit right in with us and our friends." Percy asked.

"If you're sure that's okay? I don't want to go with you guys if it's not okay."

"It's fine," Percy said.

"See you at lunch, but if we have any classes together I guess I'll see you sooner." Annabeth said, and the two walked off.

When lunch time rolled around, I raced out of class and to my locker to grab the lunch I had packed. When I got to the cafeteria, I saw Percy and Annabeth almost immediately. They were both laughing to a joke another guy said.

"Hi," I said. "You invited me to sit with you?"

"Yeah, come on. This is the gang... We're just the ones who don't belong anywhere and made our own group." Annabeth shrugs. "This is Leo, Jason, Piper, Frank, Thalia, Nico, Bianca, and Hazel."
"Sorry I'm late!" A boy said. He had light purple hair and wore jeans, a flannel, and Converse. "Hi, I'm Sage."

"Sage, this is Will, he's new here and we invited him to sit with us." Annabeth said.

"Come on, sit down! We have lots to talk about." We all walked to the table where they usually sat, I guess.

"Wait, who's that at our table?" Percy asked.

"Oh! That's my sister, Lily. Is it all right if she sits with us?" I ask.

"Sure, why not."

"Hey! Lily!" I called. She looked at me, and then my new friends.

"Hi, Will. So, who are these people?" She asked. I introduced everyone to her as best as I could, but I messed up a little on remembering names. Jason, Nico, Thalia, and Bianca had to remind me of their names. "Uh, do you guys mind if I sit here? I haven't made any friends yet..."

"That's fine," Jason said. We all sat down at the table.

"Hey, I heard there's a gay guy at school." Sage announced. Nico glanced up at him and took one earbud out discreetly. I was the only one to notice he was paying attention.
"Really? Why are people that way?" A voice behind me asked.
