Prologue: The Portal

The wind blew strong in wizard city carrying flyers announcing Bella Noche's exile for his crimes against magic. The bottom of the paper invited all wizards to town square where it would be held the next day. This was the first time Ice King had been invited to a wizard gathering and he took it very seriously. So he cleared his already clear schedule and went shopping.

He was "fashionably late" and wearing a brand new tunic he had bought just the day before. As he made his way to the town square, he could see crowds heading in the opposite direction. Although sadly, whenever he asked people what was going on, they ignored him, aware of his reputation. The Ice King continued his path regardless, excited to finally be included.

When he arrived, the square was deserted except for the three guards he spotted, surveilling an interdimensional portal standing taller than them all. It had purple smoke swirling around it's glowing center and Ice King's wizard eyes could see spirits sticking their heads into the portal, completely unnoticed by the security. He walked towards it with an intense curiosity followed by the tallest guard stepping forward and shouting "Halt Ice King! You can't come any closer."

"Well that's not fair! What about them?" asked the Ice King, pointing his finger at the portal.

All but the ice wizard were blind to the tens of spirits surrounding them.

"There's nobody else here." said that same guard, looking slightly confused.
The Ice King ignored his previous command and headed towards the portal, explaining as he walked "Well of course you can't see them, you don't have my wizard eyes! But I'm telling you that there are about six ugly things sticking their heads into that portal of yours."
The others looked at each other, even more confused, until the tall one noticed that Ice King was getting surprisingly close to the portal. The guard took another step forward and put his hand on the wizard's shoulder, "You're not gonna take another step old man." he said firmly while tightening his grip.
Ice King's face grew red with anger as he cried out "No one tells the Ice King what to do!" and in an instant, all three guards were blown away by a giant gust of icy wind. The ice wizard then continued on his path, asking himself "What is so special about this portal anyway?"

He stuck his head in the portal and appeared twenty feet above a field of grass. Looking around, he noticed the field continued on his right but there was a beach not too far away on his left and a body lying unconscious just below. Before the Ice King could understand what was happening, he was dragged out by one of the guards. He struggled to break free, kicking and scratching as hard as he could while a guard restrained his hands from behind, until the Grand Master Wizard finished casting a spell to close the portal.

"Wait! Don't close it just yet!"cried the Ice King as he fought to break off the guard's hold on him, "My crown! My crown fell in!" he yelled, continuing to struggle until it was already too late.
"Calm down Ice King! We'll send someone to retrieve it. Someone with more experience in that world." said the Grand Master.
"Was this your plan all along!? To steal my crown!?" the blue skinned wizard asked angrily as the guard let him go.
"The crown might actually ruin our plans, so you can have faith that we will bring it back to you." answered the Grand Master then proceeded to shout "Guards! Get up and follow me! We don't have time to waste."

Finally, only after they were all out of sight, the Ice King looked around and wondered aloud "Wait, how do I get home now?"
