I wheel Aleysa into the room and place the chair next to the bed. I help Aleysa in the bed.
She smiles at me. "Thanks, Chloe."
"You're welcome." I fold up the chair and place it next to the door.
The nurse can take it the next she comes into the room to check on Aleysa and the girl she's sharing a room with.
"I'm going to get a drink, Aleysa. Do you want anything?"
"Water, please."
"Okay, I'll be right back." I walk out of the room and head in the direction of the drink machine. I put money inside it and get two bottles of water.
My phone goes off as I'm getting the water out of the machine. I put one battle in my pocket and hold the other.
Looking at the phone I see Jai flash across the screen. I answer the call.
Me: Hey, Jai.
Jai: Hey, Chloe. I'm in front of the hospital. Can you come and get me? I don't want to look like an idiot looking for you.
Me: Sure, I'll be down shortly. I just have to give my sister a drink and then I'll be right down.
I hang up the phone and walk back to Aleysa's room. I place the water on the table and grab a plastic cup from the nightstand and pour the water into the cup. "Jai's waiting for me downstairs."
Aleysa looks at me. "Can you get the magazine from under the bed. I want him to sign it for me."
I grab the magazine that's in the tray under the bed and I see a picture of Jai.
He's wearing a football helmet, without a shirt on and pants that shows his v line and muscles.
Damn, he looks hot without clothes on.
Aleysa looks at me. "You're drooling, sis." She wipes the corner of her mouth.
"Shut up." I run into the bathroom and check myself in the mirror. I readjust the crown on my head and clean up the smudged eyeliner around my eyes. I quickly apply some gloss to my lips before leaving the bathroom.
Aleysa looks at me. "Go get you're man."
I cross my arms and look at her. "He's not mine."
She turns away from me and opens the magazine.
I walk out of the room and head down to the ground floor.
Jai is leaving against the lift as I walk out of it. He grabs my arm pulling me inside it.
The doors close and they take us back to the room.
Jai looks me up and down. "Hey, Chloe. You look great."
My face heats up from his words. "Thanks," I mumble, looking at the floor.
Jai takes a step closer to me and he lifts my chin. "Never hide that blush from me, Chloe. You're a beautiful woman and I would like to see every emotion that crosses you're face."
"Okay," I whisper.
He reaches for the crown on my head. "That looks great. Where did you get it?"
"I made it."
Jai lets go of the crown. "Wow! You did an amazing job with it. You should sell it. I'm sure many woman would love to wear one of them when they get married." He pulls his phone out of his pocket. "Can I take a picture of it and send it to a friend that's getting married shortly?"
"Sure," he takes a couple of photos of me. "Can I see them?" I stand next to him and he shows me his phone.
There's heaps of photos of me and the crown. He shows me three photos that he's sending to his friend. "If my friend wants one, can you make it for her?"
"Yes, I can. If she has a different design for it, I'll give that a go too."
Jai sends the message to his friend.
The door to the lift opens and he lets me exit before him. He follows behind me as we make our way to my sister's room.
I walk into the room to see Aleysa put the magazine on the bed. I walk over to the bed and sit next to her. "Jai, I want you to meet my sister, Aleysa. Aleysa, this is my boss, Jai."
Aleysa smiles. "Hi," she whispers.
Jai moves towards us and he smiles at her. "It's nice to meet you, Aleysa. Your sister has told me so much about you." He looks at the bed and sees the magazine with his face on it. He picks it up and takes a close look at it. "Ah, I remember this shoot. This was taken before the injury that ended my career."
Aleysa smiles. "I know. Dad used to tell me that you were a great player and it was such a shame that your injury made you give up the sport."
He nods. "I'm surprised that you're father would have followed my career. Not many people would remember me playing as it's been five years since my career ended."
She looks at me. "Dad kept some videos of some games that Jai played in. You should watch it, Chloe."
Jai looks at me. "I would like to see some of those games with you."
"Okay,"
I haven't seen any of his games before.
Jai looks at the magazine on the floor. "Do you want me to autograph that for you?"
Aleysa nods. "Yes, please."
He picks up the magazine and then looks at me. "Do you have a pen?"
I go through my bag and find a pen buried at the bottom. I pull the pen out and give it to him.
Jai picks up the magazine and autographs it for her. He gives it back. "Do you want a photo with me? It would be a better picture than the one on the magazine."
That's a dream come true for her. When I visited my parents every year she would tell me about Jai Marshall.
Aleysa looks at me. "Can I?"
"Sure," I pull my phone out of my back pocket and take a photo of them together.
Jai looks at me. "Let's take a selfie?"
I climb onto the bed and sit between Aleysa and Jai. I take the photo and then look at the picture on the phone. I see Jai looking at me and he has a smile on his face.
He looks hot.
I show him the picture.
"That's a great picture. Can you send it to me?"
"Sure," I open the text app and send the picture to him.
Jai looks at his watch and says. "We need to get to the club."
I kiss my sisters cheek. "I'll see you tonight. Tomorrow's going to be a long day for you."
Jai waves at her. "Bye, Aleysa. It was nice meeting you."
Aleysa smiles at him. "Bye, Jai." She watches us leave the room.
As Jai and I walk down the hall he asks. "What's happeneing tomorrow?"
"Aleysa, starts chemo."
He pulls me into his arms. "I want you to take tomorrow night off. Watching you're sister go through treatment tomorrow is going to take a lot out of you and I want you to be a hundred and ten percent when you work at Lusive."
"Thanks, Jai."
