My morning alarm blared in my ears and I opened my eyes. I pushed myself up from my bed and fled to the bathroom, turning on the light. Looking into the mirror, I felt lazy to dress up and put on makeup, however, my job requires a formal appearance. The company's boss is meant to be visiting the psychiatric hospital and recently, I've been given three roles in one: psychologist, doctor, and nurse at the Patton State Hospital.

I've been working in the facility for quite some time now and the boss of the building decided to give me more than one role there since everything was pretty much like slicing through a piece of the pie. Don't get me wrong, it's fun working there because I can analyze everything that people are going through and I can help them but, it'll get annoying after a while of people constantly being booked into your schedule because you're the best employee any facility has had in a while.

Stripping myself of my clothes, I walked into the shower and turned on the water. I took my time washing my hair and scrubbing my body before I began drying myself off after the shower and brushing my teeth. Letting my hair dry naturally, I walked into the closet and chose a simple white button-up with a black thigh-high skirt with a pair of white heels. My reflection portrayed the person I wanted to be as a child and I was more than happy with myself and my success. I grabbed my purse and walked out of the house, locking the door behind me. I got into my car and started it up, backing out of the driveway and going off to my new job.

Upon my arrival, I opened the main doors and greeted my best friend at the reception. Katrina Stuart, the greatest of them all, was our girl who had no filter but still knew how to be polite. Everyone loved her, however, she was taken by her love; Sam Golbach. They met as close friends and slowly fell madly in love with each other, however, it would never have happened if it weren't for me putting them together. Sam is a fellow doctor at the facility and he runs new experiments on the patients, given their complete consent.

"There's a new patient who transferred from Kansas, Colby Brock. You're in charge of taking care of him for the rest of his time here. I would advise you to be careful, the past few you've been gone days have been rough since his arrival. I wish you good luck," Katrina informed.

I took the elevator and walked to Mr. Scherer, my boss's office, and knocked on the door. I heard a faint 'come in' and opened the door to see a man with his hand wrapped around Corey's neck as he was pressed against the wall, his eyes wide with fear.

"Don't say a fucking thing or he dies," the man threatened, his blue eyes cold as he stared at me with rage and I said nothing, for I was in complete shock.

"Let's just talk about this for a second," I suggested, calmly sitting down at Corey's chair. The man looked skeptically between me and Corey. He slowly released his grip and Corey pulled out his phone to call security, however, I stood up and shook my head. "Mr. Scherer, I'll take him with me. No guards are needed," I spoke bravely, fixing my posture and looking Corey in the eye.

He nodded and handed me a file from his pile of papers on his desk. I called the man to follow me and we retreated to the elevator where I looked through the file. His name was 'Cole Robert Brock' and he was 21 years old. His charges included: Major Anger Issues, arson, murder and harassment, and public display of his deeds. I closed the file and looked down for a moment before I turned my head to look at him as he leaned against the elevator wall and studied me.

"So, Ms. Poole..." he trailed, "What are you going to do with me while I'm here?" He asked with a smirk and I shrugged. The elevator doors opened and I walked out to the deserted floor of the hospital and led Cole down the hall. I asked him if he liked drawing and he said he always wanted to but didn't have the talent.
