"Your worst nightmare" - Chapter 9

(Sel's POV):

"Come on Sel, we better get you inside before you catch a cold..." Brooke says as she rubs up my forearm to try warm me up. I notice she slides my shoes on my feet. She then picks me up, trying to guide me back up the hill. The boys tried to help her carry me but she shoved them off, "I've got her".

I turn around to face the water, "B-but, Justin..." I reach my hand out towards the heavy flowing river and Brooke gently lowers it down, "I'm sorry, baby." She says, comforting.

We begin to walk back up the hill. I couldn't help but think all of this was my fault. I should have just shaved my hair off instead. Just as we got to the hill everyone stopped. I bumped into the back of Alex by accident. They all gasped.

"What?" I ask, oblivious to what is going on.

I push past Alex to see what's in front and there I saw him. Leaning up against the wall. I ran over to him and jumped into his arms, holding him so tight.

"I thought I lost you!" I cried into his shoulder.

"You really think you can get rid of me, Justin Bieber that easily?" He smirks.

I look up at him and slap him square around the face, watching his face fall to the side before throwing my fists into his chest repeatedly. He was strong, so my strength didn't really hurt him, he stayed in one spot.

"Don't you ever do that again! Why the fuck did you jump in the water, Justin? Why!" I scream at him, tears streaming down my face.

He grabs my fists, stopping me from hitting him anymore. "I couldn't just leave you! Are you insane? I had to save you, Selena. Why don't you get that?" He says, sounding hurt but also angry at the same time.

"I don't get it because you risked your own life for me, again!" I shout. Everyone just stood there in silence.

Alex finally speaks up, "Uh... We'll leave you two to talk this out. Justin, it's good to have you back, man" He says and pulls Justin into a bro hug as Justin accepts. "Just don't ever do something as crazy as that again" he shoulder barges him and Justin chuckles. Everyone bows their head, smiling at Justin to say welcome back but they didn't want to pull me away from his hold as they saw how upset I was. He just ignores everyone as his full attention is on me. Until, he notices Sam behind us. Sam was still standing there, watching us.

"Sam, come on!" Kyle shouts and Sam scoffs as he walks off.

He hits Kyle in the arm, "She is my girlfriend, you know" he looks back and carries on storming off.

Kyle looks over at me and Justin apologetically but I wave him off to say it's fine.

I turn my attention back to Justin when he speaks up. "Oh, and by the way. The first time was nothing, Sel" he chuckles.

How could he think this is funny?

"Nothing? Justin, you fucking jumped in the way of the bullet that was meant for me!" I hit him in his chest again.

"That bullet was never meant for you and none ever will be! It only skimmed my arm, I was fine. I just care too much about you, Sel." He says.

"I would have never forgiven myself if you died because of me!" He stares into my eyes.

"How did you even get out?" He changes the subject back to the river incident a few minutes ago. "Just after I lost grip of your hand, I panicked. I was under the water trying to find you and when I couldn't, I decided to let the current drag me a bit as I just gave up. I thought I lost you for good. I just wanted to die. Then it led me to the other side of the bridge and that's when I swam back up and walked up here and saw you walking up in Brooke's arms. I was out of breath so I leaned up against the wall, and that's when everyone saw me" He tells me.
