-chapter 1-

I wasn't sure what element I would fit into, or which I would want to be in. This day was haunting me, ever since I was told I would have to choose.

Water?

The water's were bubbly and hyper every second. They were natural healers, and were interested in medical remedies.

Fire?

They were the brave and fearless ones. They were always too confident for their own good, and natural fighters.

Ice?

Their hearts were full of hatred. If you even looked the wrong way at them, they would bite your head off with their sharp tongues. But because of those qualities, the were the best at negotiating or tricking you into something.

Earth?

They are the most calm, cool, collected, and literally the most down to earth people you'll ever meet. Their specialty was gem mining, they can bring huge diamonds right out of the earth.

Wind?

They were silent all the time. Quiet talkers, if not quiet, silent. They could move about through snow, leaves, grass, flowers, without rustling anything or making a sound. They were the hunters of the elements.

Stone?

They were not hateful like ice, but sure not as happy and bubbly as water. They were polite, but you could never get a peep out of their mouths about anything. That was the reason every secret ever kept, has been with the Stone.

I wasn't sure who I was. Everyone usually has a distinct personality and traits that define their element.

Not me.

Also, no one had a name until they chose it at their element ceremony. So I was called A-0

When you chose your name, it had to represent your element. You had two days after your chosen element, and then there is a ceremony. You announce your chosen name, and begin your training.

My throat felt dry as I walked up the steps to the *E.T.F building. I placed every foot as slowly as I could up the staircase, but I was soon inside the building.

It felt like walking into a swarm of hornets. Every voice mashed together to create one enormous buzzing sound.

I rubbed circles around my temples, and sighed.

Am I the only one who feels like they don't have a place?

Suddenly, a calm voice rang out around the room, projected from a speaker.

"Order."

With that command, we got right into our line order. I was at the very front. Great...

I stood patiently, waiting for someone to bring me to my testing room. Soon, I saw a very tall man with long gray hair make his way over to me.

"A-0." He said while looking down at his clip board.

"Yeah, that's me." I answered quietly. He nodded, and continued in a monotone voice,

"Do you promise not to speak or give any information in any form about what happens in this room, and if you do so you shall be punished." I nodded, and cleared my throat.

"I promise." He scribbled something down on his paper, and set his pen down. He finally looked down at me, and smiled.

"Lets begin."

The man led me to a door, which had a glowing snowflake floating over the top. He shoved his hand into his pocket and fumbled for his keys while saying,

"These test rooms have been specially designed to test your powers." He pulled out a silver key, and shoved it into the door lock.

"How will I know when I've found the right element?" I spoke up. The man stopped, and looked at me.

"You'll know." He answered. He turned the lock, and opened the door. I walked into a plain, stone square room. I looked around, and then the door shut behind me. I whirled around, and my eyes widened as I realized that there was no door anymore.

I turned back around, my heart pumping fast. I popped the knuckles on my hands, as a nervous habit. I swallowed hard, and waited for something to happen.

Nothing did.

"Hello?" I finally said. My voice echoed and bounced around the room. I narrowed my eyes.

"Your stupid test isn't working!" I shouted, and just then, someone appeared in front of me.

"How is it not working?" They hissed. I blinked and stepped back.

Don't be afraid, you coward!

I stood up straighter,

"Nothing has happened yet." I shot back. The mysterious person narrowed their eyes, and smiled.

"But I've happened, haven't I?" I furrowed my eyebrows, and opened my mouth to say something back. But the person dissolved into snow and ice, and it turned into a blizzard in a few moments.

I raised my hands in the air to block the wind and snow, and narrowed my eyes. The coldness wrapped around me, but for some reason I felt it comforting. I opened my eyes, and noticed that the snow didn't sting.

I stood in the blizzard, and felt powerful. As far as I could see it was snow and ice. I raised my hands, somehow knowing that it would do something. The wind picked up, and I felt the ice hit my face harder. I breathed in deeply, inhaling the cold. It sent new energy through my veins.

Then everything stopped, and it was back to the stone room. I dropped my hands to my sides, and then I felt myself grow warmer. I saw the floating snowflake that I saw above the door. I knew somehow I needed to grab it, and so I reached out and pulled it towards me.

When I touched  it, it started to slowly turn into water and run down my arm. It melted into my skin, and I saw the snowflake tattooed on my arm. My eyes widened, and my heart started to beat faster.

Am I ice?

Just then grass sprouted from the ground beneath me in a wide circle. A silver door appeared in front of me.
