The boy was crying, snotty tears ran down his hoodie, and dropped onto the floor. His body shook and heaved, but he made no noise. Nothing. The kid was clearly strong, and I had respect for that. Not many kids would stand this, so for him to make no noise whilst crying? Crazy.
"It's okay, buddy. Things'll be fine." I said to him, looking him in the eyes. His green pearls focused onto me, before nodding and sniffing. I offered him a smile, even though I was fucking terrified of what was going to happen.
"Hey, wake up." The girl shook her chain to get my attention "Is that getting us anywhere? No. So sap up." She said to the kid, staring him down.
"The Fuck is wrong with you? He's so young!" I shouted at her, appalled. He clearly doesn't know what to do here, and she's trying to tell him to grow up. I'm going to slap her if I get out of these cuffs. If.
"Well he needs to, clearly. I wasn't this naive when I was ten." She stared, wriggling her chains until she could rub her shoulders.
"Hey! I'm not na-nae-mai- stupid!"He said to her. "I just don't know where we are, okay? I'm scared" he stared at his jeans, and a tear rolled down his cheek
"Yeah, well being scared isn't going to get us anywhere, is it?" She replied
"Guys, please stop. Your hurting my head.." I said, shaking it. It was quite hot in here. I regretted wearing jeans and a long sleeved shirt. I could feel the perspiration sticking to my skin in a futile attempt to cool me down. The girl glared, but didn't say a word.Three people brought us food, one for each of us, and loosened the chains so we could eat easier. They then stood back and observed, out of our reach. We were served steak and salad, meat and veg. As soon as we finished, they tightened out chains, and they then stepped forward again. They all had a menacing look on them, and I began to squirm in my chains. At the same time, they all produced a needle, about half the size of my arm, and full of transparent blue-ish liquid. The girl was really struggling, uncontrollably shaking until her observer stepped forward and put the needle into her chest. She stopped, stared open-mouthed at her captor, and flopped to the floor like a dead weight. The boy made no movement, even when the syringe was inserted into his arm. He froze up, and then loosened extremely. I also tried to struggle: knitting the chains, clanking them together, kicking the observer, nothing worked.
Fuck.
He stuck the needle into my chest, and I felt a slow, dull, buzzing sensation run through my system. My body gave into the power of the drug, and my eyes closed, instantly shutting down my brain, and leaving me defenceless to whoever was holding us."Wakey wakey!" I heard a voice call, disturbing my slumber and rocking my brain as it caught up with what happened. Fuck... picking my head up, I saw that the others were also struggling from the sudden wake up call. The boy clearly didn't sleep well: he tossed and turned a lot, as his chains were tangled, and his eyes were bloodshot. Classic nightmare symptoms. Poor lad.
"Hey, kid." I coughed up, feeling vomit at the back of my throat. What was in that vile?
"Ugh..." I heard him mumble, looking at whoever had woken him up, body shaking. Clearly this stuff isn't going to affect our bodies well. Fantastic. I glanced right, and the girl was awake instantly, shaking off her sleepiness like it was nothing.
"Yeah, I'm awake bitch. What do you want?" She snapped, causing the assistant in front of her to step back slightly. My assistant was watching me as I looked at them both, mouth curled into a smile of some sorts. How could he smile, knowing we'd been stolen?
"It's your first day!" He shouted, like a camp guide. "I'll talk you through today's schedule. They're usually similar, so don't worry about getting mixed up. I mean, you couldn't go anywhere else anyway." He said, laughing. He then proceeded to clear his throat and read out:
"When you wake up, you'll be taken to different rooms to wash and change. There will be a camera watching, but not as you are in the bath or shower. After an hour, you'll be brought back here, chained, to eat breakfast. You'll then work out for thirty minutes, before being left unshackled, but under watchful eyes, for about three hours. This'll bring you to lunch, and then a meeting with your individual doctors. Back here for rest. You'll be injected with a vial each time." He looked up from whatever he was reading. "You all understand?"
"What difference does it make? You'll make us do whatever anyway..." The girl said, staring at the man. He tilted his head sideways, then handed his paper to an assistant. He walked casually up to her, and pulled out a knife. Nothing out of the ordinary, but somehow sleeker and more deadly looking than anything I'd ever seen. He drew his finger along the edge, and stared her down
"You think I care what happens to me?" She said, moving her body so her chest was inches away from the knife.
"Go on." She said calmly, looking dead into his soul "Do it." She shouted louder "DO IT!" She screamed, creating an echo that ricocheted around the room, sending chills down my spine. The man laughed, and put his weapon back into his pocket
"You have a fighting spirit, but that." He laughed again "that won't get you anywhere here." He turned around, snapped his fingers, and left. The assistants trailed behind him by about 10 steps. Sheep following a Shepard....
I looked over at the kid, and his eyes were frigid and locked onto the girl, who had her head hung low.
"H-hey. Are y-you ok-kay?" He stammered nervously. She looked up, and a tear had traced its way down her cheek, taking a line of dirt with it
"I-I just don't want to be here." She said, wiping her face with her sleeve as she readjusted her chains to suit how she was. "I just want to breathe in fresh air again."
"You a country girl?" I asked
"Yeah, is that a problem?" She remarked, her stare turning me to stone
"No! I was just asking. I'm not trying to offend you." I said, smiling. She clearly didn't like me
"Keep it that way." She brushed me off, focusing on the boy again "I'm fine, I just want to be out of here ASAP"
"Good luck." I snorted "these people probably have every single exit locked and armed. They also have hidden cameras in here." I said, already looking around
"Huh. like you'd know the first thing about being kidnapped." She picked up her head, and swished her hair.
"No. I just know these people aren't stupid. You should too. I mean, look at this room for fucks sake! It's completely white, bleached over, and underground. There's no way we'd be above ground. There are stairs directly behind the door itself. There's. No. Way" I explained. She just seemed to brush it off
"What do we have, if not hope?" She tried to move her arms down lower, but was clearly struggling. Fuck. This girl wasn't going to listen, was she?
Just then, three armoured, burly men walked through the door on stomping feet. And leading them? No one other than The Governor himself, hood covering his facial features. His eyes glowed and empowered the darkness around it though.
"Time to get changed." He said, nodding in our directions. The men picked one of us each, and unchained us. Myself and the boy stood still when this happened, but the girl clearly wasn't having any of it. She jumped up as soon as she was released, and tried to attack the guard like a wild animal. Her nails glanced harmlessly off of whatever crazy armour he was wearing, so she tried to punch him in the head. The man grabbed her arm, twisted it so she screamed, and restrained her whilst cuffing her arms behind her back
"Hey! Careful!" I found myself shouting and trying to get to her. My guard put a hand on my chest. Not to threatening, just to say "you've reached your limit. Stop before I break you in half." My shoulders dropped as she started screaming, and the boy simply stared at the mess that was on the floor, as frozen as a dead body. Her man produced some sort of can, and sprayed her mouth with it. Within about thirty seconds she was sound asleep, and slung over his shoulder. We were allowed to walk, as we were pushed towards the door
"Now." The Governor said, holding open the door "Let's get you all cleaned up."
