Welcome to chapter one of Not so smart. I hope you all enjoy!
"Doctor Styles?" I look up from one of my patients teeth x-rays and look into the eyes of my newest hygienist.
"Yes?" I smile.
"Jillian is here to see you."
Jillian is one of my best friends. I've known her for years, we met at our first job in high school.
"Let her in please." I stand up and fix my white coat and set down the x-rays.
"Ivy!" Jillian come in my office carrying her child's car seat.
"Emily!" I ignore Jillian as she sets down the car seat and I reach out to un-buckle her newborn girl.
"Nice to see you too." She laughs as I carefully pick up Emily.
"I'm sorry, I love it when I get to see Emily, how are you doing?" I hold the baby in one arm and reach out to hug her mom.
"I'm not in pain anymore but all she does is cry and sleep."
"She's beautiful just like her mom and dad. Speaking of dad, where is he?" I look around.
"Working, so I decided to get out of the house with Emily for the first time." She smiles at her baby.
"Doctor Styles I'm sorry but I have a patient waiting to be examined by you for a root canal." My other co-worker Dr. Smith looks at me.
"Tell them I'm on my way, thank you Jake." I smile at him and hand Emily to Jillian.
"Duty calls." I smile at Jill. "Stay here, I'll be just a minute." I point to the couch in my office and head into a room a few doors down.
Jake hands me the patients records as I walk into the room.
I read the name off my page and look up to meet a pair of green eyes, I've known Colby for years now. He's one of my first friends I made when I moved to Seattle, to start college.
"Hello." He smiles at me in British accent.
"Colby!" I reach down to give the 25 year old a quick hug.
"You opened the doors of your business 4 years ago and I'm still here." He winks at me.
Colby is a very successful business man, the owner of a large company his dad gave to him when he turned 18.
"You can't stay away from me, don't lie." I blush at him a little.
Colby had beautiful green eyes, that go with his perfect shaped eyebrows and black hair that covers his forehead, straight white teeth and a dimple on the right side of his smooth face, he's truly handsome. A girl everyone wants to be friends with, and I was lucky enough to be introduced to him.
"Thank you Jake, I'll take care of him now." I had the papers back to my co-worker and he slips out the door.
"Why you here?" I pull my chair next to Colby sitting in the dentist chair.
"I think I might need a root canal." He nervously smiles at me.
"For a perfect boy like you, I would expect for you to take care of your teeth." I roll my eyes at him and start lowering his chair so he can lay down.
"Im a busy man Ivy."
"I'm sure."
"Hey, I make time every two weeks so we can get breakfast and catch up." He starts to lay down.
"I'm grateful for your time. Mr Brock." I pull up my face mask and cover my mouth.
"You know, maybe we could hangout later tonight?" He looks at me and I grab my tools.
