Unfortunately, I didn't see Harry the next day. I was supposed to go down to the Navy Pier again, just to casually walk in the coffee shop he worked at, but the weather and my uterus decided to ruin my plans. I woke up, way too early for my liking, with the rain hitting hard on my room window.

I groaned, not only because I knew I wasn't going to be in the mood to go outside, but also because I felt a sharp pain on my lower abdomen. And in that moment I knew I was staying in the whole day. That is exactly what I did.

For two days, I stayed inside in my pyjamas, eating chocolate, drinking tea and watching romantic comedies. It wasn't exactly how I wanted to spend my first days in Chicago, but Mother Nature works by herself, and she surprises you at the worst times.

By the third day of my period, my cramps had gone away, thankfully. It was the first day of classes, and if I said I wasn't nervous, I would be lying. I looked outside, it was still raining but not as hard as the past couple days. I sigh in relief, knowing that the chances of catching a cold and coming home all wet were lower.

After taking a shower, dressing up in cosy clothes and making my usual morning routine, I grabbed my bag filled with a notebook, my case and my purse, and made my way towards the kitchen to have breakfast. I put the bag near the front door and opened the fridge to take out some milk to mix with coffee.

"Good morning El, how are you feeling?" Maddie asks walking behind me and giving me a slight hug. I smiled and looked at her, seeing that she was already ready to go to university.

"I'm a lot better, thank you. What about you, missy? Ready for the big first day?" I asked smirking, knowing fully well she wasn't as excited as I was. I grabbed a slice of bread and put some cream cheese on it, waiting for her answer.

"Ugh, don't even get me started. The only good thing about some of the classes is that we get to eat whatever we cook." She says, grabbing her own breakfast and walking towards the counter to eat it. I laughed, sipping on my coffee and chatting with her while eating the rest of our food.

Once we were ready, we put the dishes aside and grabbed our bags, making our way towards the door. While making our way to the bus, we spotted three of our classmates back from Italy, and we all decided to take the bus together. It took us about 10 minutes to get to the big university, and once we got inside, we waited until it was time for first period.

At 8:30am, we had our gourmet class. Since it was our first one, we only learned a bit of the theoretical part, not really being able to actually cook something. In my point of view, it was still interesting, but for Maddie, Alex and Joe, it was the complete opposite. They spent the whole time whispering to each other, constantly looking at their phones and giggling at anything funny they came across on their Instagram feed.

I rolled my eyes, knowing exactly that if they didn't pay attention, they would have a hard time cooking the complicated dishes we would learn next week. I didn't care though. I was focused on finishing my degree and getting my diploma, and if they weren't working for it, then too bad for them.

After a full morning of classes, it was time to head home. I was happy I had been able to pay attention today, knowing that I didn't have to go home and read the material again. University was hard, especially when you are on your last year. My degree depended the most on the grades I would have this semester, and I was willing to work as hard as I could.

"Hey El, want to grab lunch with us at our house? We bought a stock of drinks yesterday." Alex asked me, a smirk on his mouth when he mentioned the drinks he had bought. Maddie was apparently going with them, from what I could tell. Good for her.

"No, thank you. I'm not in the mood for drinks." I say dryly, not wanting to chat too much with Alex. Drinks and him were a terrible duo, and I didn't want to put myself in danger ever again. He chuckled, putting an arm around Maddie's shoulder, and I saw her cheeks getting slightly red. She was blushing.
