The First Day

    I stood in front of my mirror staring at the girl in front of me and not recognizing who she was    the past few months have been hard, my parents died in a car accident after me and Elena skipped family night to go to a party with Matt, Bonnie, Tyler and Caroline. Elena and I  were fine but  my parent's weren't they drowned.

 I brushed my long blonde hair smoothing it down and dressed in jeans and a white tee, slipping on black converse I  grabbed my bag and black leather jacket and stepped out, looking over I saw Elena standing there she smiled sadly at me and we walked down into the kitchen, finding Jenna frantically running around the kitchen.

"toast, I  can make toast" She paused looking at us with wide green eyes, her hair falling into her face.

" It's all about the coffee Jenna" Elena sighed moving behind her and to the coffee pot pouring herself a mug.

I walked over to Jenna hugging her slightly and taking the toast from her smiling, in all this mess we forgot that she also lost someone and was trying her best, I    looked at the clock furrowing my eyebrows.

"Jenna? Don't you have a thesis thing like-" I  was cut off as she glanced at her watch and gasped.

"Now." She undid her bun, grabbing her bag and car keys running out of the house. I looked over at Jeremy as he walked into the kitchen grabbing my toast and a mug for his coffee.

"Are you okay?" Elena asked him trying to look at him although he was avoiding her gaze.

" Save it Elena"He turned his back to her dropping his mug in the sink and walking out, Elena's face flashed hurt and she cleared her throat, I grabbed her hand smiling at her .

The honking outside brought us back from our moment and we walked out, seeing Bonnie's car in the driveway, I  sat in the back middle seat leaning forward and kissing Bonnie's cheek as Elena buckled in the front.

"So my grams says I'm psychic." I   scrunch up my nose looking at Elena smirking at Bonnie.

"Then predict something for me and Eliza." Elena says turning to me and smiling slightly

Bonnie smiled opening her mouth to start her sentence  when a bird flew straight into her windshield and the car swerved, I  braced myself closing my eyes feeling Elena's hand on my knee from the front.

" Oh my god, I'm so sorry I  swear the bird came out of nowhere." I  let out the breath I was holding leaning up and putting my hand on Bonnie's shoulder.

"It's fine Bon, we can't be scared of cars forever." Elena nodded in agreement and Bonnie smiled staring to drive again .

" I predict this year will be kick ass and the dark times will be over and you and Eliza will have tons of fun" I snorted making Elena and Bonnie laugh from the front seat.

When we got to school we went straight to our lockers, which luckily were all in a row I  put my heaviest books away, watching as Elena looked across the hall at Matt waving at him, only to have him slam his locker and walk away.

"He hates me " Bonnie sighed closing her locker and leaning on it.

"No , he's just all 'you dumped me but secretly I'm listening to air supply's greatest hits" I  stifled a laugh, putting my arm around her shoulder and smiling.

"Yeah, Len he'll get over it" Elena sighed leaning into me, when Caroline rushed down the hall and hugged us tightly, pulling away and looking us over like we would break if she blinked too fast.
