The outdoor life had never been so lovely to Louis before that night.
Letting the woodsy scent of nature fill his nose, his mind wandered off into thinking about nothing in particular. His hands roamed along the grass, the bristles sending a prickling sensation throughout his palms. He yanked a few from out of the ground and twiddled them among his fingertips. From the light beaming through the curtains of the kitchen's window, he could tell the strands barely still held its signature luscious green color because of the rapid weather change. The blazing hot summer had finally had ended turn and the autumn temperatures made way across the air.
Louis actually enjoyed the sweet pleasure of the calming scenery. With dedicated fans and the sight of flashing cameras always on his tail, it was nice to be able to savor the peace and quiet instead.
His gaze wandered up from the dying grass and towards the area of his backyard. It was relatively dark, clearly stating the late time of night. The full moon was high up in the dark blue sky at ten o' clock, and it provided very little light to the lawn. But there were quite a few quick flickers of bright glows that illuminated his vision for a brief second.
'Fireflies...' Louis thought immediately at the sight of them, which earned a small grin to appear upon his pink lips.
A chilled breath of wind rushed through, followed by a finger of ice to run down Louis's spine. He obtained a shudder, causing himself to wrap his jacket even more tightly around his skin. He shifted to a more comfortable place on the wooden porch and let his bare feet dangle down.
Suddenly, Louis heard a sound that stood out against the soft chirps of crickets. He jerked his head over to the area of the abrupt noise. Crushing his dark eyebrows together, his muscles tensed up when he noticed something immerging from the shadows. But he eased a bit when his eyes rested upon a certain curly hair lad.
"Hello." The person spoke, truly revealing himself fully to Louis by standing in the beam of light from the window.
"What the hell are you doing here, Harry?" Louis managed to say in an impudent tone. Although on the inside, he was coming unglued.
"To see you, of course." Harry replied, bobbing back and forth on his heels restlessly.
"At this time of night?" Louis inquired, his eyebrows rising on his forehead.
"What are you doing out here in the first place?" Harry retorted back.
"Hey, at least I'm not the one who's climbing over peoples fences," Louis said, putting his hands up as a defense, "You're lucky I didn't have my baseball bat with me or I would have whack the life out of you with it."
"You don't even own a baseball bat."
"That's not my point..."
Harry chuckled lightly before plopping himself next to Louis on the deck. He hunched over so that his backbone was evidently visible through his light clothing. Letting out a deep sigh, he folded his hands and laid them on his lap.
"It's really beautiful out here, isn't it?" Harry asked after moments of silence, nudging Louis' shoulder lightly.
