Two days.
That's how long I have to wait until I get to go to LA.
Two days.
That's how long until I turn eighteen.
I wonder if they'll even let me in. I bought the plane tickets a few months ago, so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm worried about whether or not they'll think I'm old enough. My friend Hana is the whole reason that I'm even going to Cali. They have some super-convention there, which makes me super hyped because I get to go somewhere that's actually cool for once, but the reason that we're actually going is to hang out with her cousins friends for a couple of weeks. According to her they're some hot stuff on YouTube. That scares me. I don't like famous people.
"Coming or not?" Hana chirps in her accent while sticking her head out of her car window.
"Yeah. One second." I haul my bag over my shoulder. She's picking me up for a post-trip sleepover. I flip my hair back into place while trudging down my half a mile long driveway.
"One, two, three," Hana counts on her fingers. "Yeah, you're taking more than a second Ross."
Ross isn't my actual name, but she just calls me that to annoy me. Two can play at that game. "Shut up Fletcher."
"Seven, eight- Oh, you made it! Only"-She does math in her head-"Seven seconds late."
I roll my eyes and fix my hair back into a ponytail on my neck, peeping over her head to see the car mirror. She's 5'9. I'm 5'4. "It's like 90 degrees out there."
"Holy crap. But you're still seven seconds late. What am supposed to do with excuses Ro"-I send her the bug eyes-"Anna?"
"You're supposed to get that it's to damn hot for July."
"Don't swear!" You've always got that one friend...
"Sorry, but you're the one who's cousins with Sky." It's true. Her and Adam have been best buds since they were in diapers.
"What's he have to do with anything?" The Twitter whistle lights up her phone screen. "Speak of the devil."
"What?" I look over her shoulder and see what she's talking about. I laugh. It's him.
" 'Well I guess that I can't side with a traitor.' "
"Oh." I laugh. "He must be talking about Mitch. Still with that Seto thing I guess."
"Hey! It's not funny, you know. He kicked him out of Team Crafted. For no reason."
"Money is what they say."
"Probably," Hana sighs and turns the corner.
"Money whore."
"Yeah." She pulls into her driveway. "He might be there."
"Where?"
"The Team Crafted house, genius."
"I have not heard of said house." Team Crafted house? The hell?
"They put money together to buy a gaming house."
It seems kinda stupid, but I just go with it. "Cool."
We get out of her car and head into her house. "I want food."
"Hana, you always want food. Make caso."
"Okay. Order some pizza, though."
"From where?"
She knits her eyebrows as if this were an important question. "Papa Johns."
"On it." I dial the number and wait for a receiver.
"Hello, this is Papa Johns."
"Hi."
"What would you like today?"
"Pizza."
He frowns in a 'No shit Sherlock' way. "What kind of pizza?"
"Cheese."
"And to drink?"
Hana tells me that she wants Coke. "Pepsi," I tell the receiver and stick my younger out at Hana.
"Okay, you're Anna Ross right?"
Just goes to show how much I order pizza. "Yup. But at 1900 Canada Avenue."
"It'll be twenty minutes."
"Got it." I hang up after giving him my credit card details to pay.
"You got Pepsi." Hana frowns at me.
"Yeah. It's good."
Hana sits down on the couch while I play Dota 2 on my laptop. She passes out in a deep sleep before pizza gets here, and when it does come, I can't take a bite before I do the same. I dream of LA, and the convention, but nothing could have prepared me for what came...
