As I regained consciousness, I found myself lying on a makeshift bed that my friends had prepared near the bonfire. They were all gathered around me, their worried faces etched with concern.
"Brya, are you okay? What happened?" Luisa asked, her voice trembling with worry.
"I... I don't know. I was in the rent house's kitchen, and I saw a strange note on the window. Then, my body just gave out, and I fell," I explained, trying to remember the unsettling words written on the sticky note.
Alexa handed me a bottle of water, and I took a sip to calm my nerves. "What did the note say?" she inquired gently.
"Uh... It said, 'By the count of three, you'll run, Brya G. Villoura.' It felt so ominous," I replied, shivering at the memory.
Gilbert let out a nervous laugh. "Come on, guys, it's probably just a prank. Shelley's resort is known for its thrilling experiences and mysteries. Maybe someone is just trying to give us a scare."
"But why would someone target Brya specifically?" Carl questioned, his protective nature surfacing.
"Maybe they just picked her randomly. It's nothing to worry about," Gilbert dismissed the matter.
I tried to shake off the feeling of unease, wanting to believe Gilbert's explanation. But deep down, I couldn't ignore the unsettling sensation that lingered.
Shelley, always the logical one, decided to investigate the note further. "Let's check the kitchen, maybe there's something more to it."
We all followed Shelley back to the rent house, with Carl still holding my hand tightly, providing comfort. In the kitchen, Shelley carefully examined the window where I had seen the note. However, there was nothing there now.
"It's gone! Someone must have removed it," Shelley stated.
"But who could have done that while we were all here?" Luisa wondered.
"It could be anyone. Maybe one of the resort's staff members was just playing around," Gilbert suggested.
Shelley nodded. "Let's not jump to conclusions. It's better to be cautious, though. We'll inform the caretakers about it and ask them to be vigilant."
We returned to the bonfire, but the mood had changed. The excitement of our trip had been dampened by the mysterious note. My friends tried to distract me, telling jokes and sharing funny stories, but my mind kept going back to that unsettling dream and the strange message.
As the night went on, we decided to retire to our respective rooms in the rent house. Shelley insisted on accompanying me to my room, saying she didn't want me to be alone.
"I'll be fine, Shelley. It was probably just a prank, like Gilbert said," I reassured her.
"Still, I want to stay with you. I can sleep on the couch," she insisted.
I appreciated her concern and agreed, not wanting to upset her. We both settled in, and Shelley managed to make me laugh before we drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, the unease still lingered in the air. We had planned to head to the island after breakfast, but the mysterious note had cast a shadow over our excitement.
During breakfast, I mustered the courage to share my unsettling dream with my friends. They listened attentively as I recounted the vivid details of the dark forest, the mysterious footsteps, and the chilling warning.
"That's really creepy," Luisa remarked.
"Maybe it was just your subconscious playing tricks on you," Gilbert suggested.
"But it felt so real, like I was actually there," I replied.
"Hey, let's not let this ruin our vacation," Carl said, trying to lighten the mood. "We'll stick together and have a great time."
He flashed me a reassuring smile, and I couldn't help but feel a little better.
Shelley decided to call the resort's staff and inform them about the strange note incident. They assured her they would keep an eye out for any suspicious activity and promised to investigate the matter further.
With some reassurance, we finally made our way to the island, hoping to leave the unsettling events behind us. The island was beautiful, with pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters. We were all excited to explore and create lasting memories.
As the day went on, we engaged in various activities on the island – swimming, beach games, and exploring the lush surroundings. The fun and laughter were contagious, and for a moment, I managed to forget about the eerie events of the previous night.
In the evening, as the sun began to set, we gathered around the bonfire we had set up on the beach. The crackling flames and the sound of waves crashing against the shore created a soothing ambiance.
Luisa suggested playing a game of truth or dare to add some excitement to our evening. We all agreed, and soon enough, we were immersed in the game, sharing funny and embarrassing stories.
As the game progressed, Gilbert decided to bring up the mysterious note again. "Alright, Brya, truth or dare? Did the dream and the note really scare you?"
I hesitated for a moment, feeling a bit exposed. But then, I reminded myself to be true to who I am. "Truth. Yes, they did scare me. It felt so real, and the note... it's just unnerving."
"Aw, come on, Brya. Don't be scared. We're all here for you," Carl said, giving me a reassuring smile.
"Yeah, it's probably just a silly prank," Alexa chimed in.
As the night wore on, the unsettling feeling subsided, replaced by the warmth of friendship and the joy of being together. We exchanged stories, laughed, and even sang campfire songs.
When it was time to retire to our beachfront cabins, we all hugged goodnight. Shelley once again insisted on staying with me, and I appreciated her caring nature.
As we settled in, I couldn't help but feel grateful for having such supportive and caring friends. The fear that had gripped me earlier began to dissipate, replaced by a sense of security in their presence.
The next day, we woke up early to catch the sunrise, which was one of the highlights of our trip. We all gathered on the beach, wrapped in blankets, as the sky gradually changed colors.
As the sun's first rays peeked above the horizon, bathing the beach in a warm glow, I couldn't help but feel a sense of renewal. The beauty of nature and the company of my friends reminded me of the precious moments in life that we should cherish.
As we watched the sunrise together, I knew that no matter what challenges or mysteries lay ahead, we would face them together – a tight-knit group of friends, ready to support and protect each other.
Little did I know that the mysterious note was just the beginning of an even greater adventure that awaited us on this island.
