" Sanaa, it's time for you to go. "" What do you mean it's time for me to go ? Go where? "
" Out on your own. " Shalon lit a ciggarette. She didn't really care for her daughters anymore. She thought eighteen was too long to keep Sanaa. She thought eighteen was the perfect time to throw her daughter out on the streets.
" You putting me out? Ma I'm only eighteen. I don't got no where to go. Who ima stay with??" she pleaded, hoping her mom would realize the move she was about to make.
"Any other time ya finding places to go & stay I don't know. " Shalon retorted back while throwing her hands up; referring to sanaa staying with friends 'late & after hours'.
" What you really saying? " Sanaa shifted her body weight to one side as she placed her hand on her hip as her eyebrows furrowed trying to get an actual explanation. Her & her mother's relationship had been progressing since she was released from juvenile custody two years ago.
" Sanaa I found weed and money under your matress and in your floor tile. Why the fuck are you selling drugs in my house?"
Shalon might've did her dirt but she kept a clean house. Ever since Sanaa's daddy went to the penitentiary, shalon vowed to never keep drugs in the house, although she did pills she never brung them inside her home since it was raided.
" I'm selling weed, not drugs. And why you going through my damn room anyways?" Sanaa questioned as she headed towards her bedroom and began rambling through her belongings.
" It doesn't matter why I was in there Gia'Sanaa! This my motherfuckin' house! " Shalon smashed her ciggarette in the ash-tray and stood up making her way towards Sanaa's bedroom door. She stood against the frame as she watches Sanaa go through her stuff. "I already threw it away." She slurred as her high finally settled in.
" Ma you really about t-" Sanaa was quickly cut herself off after realizing what her mom actually said. "you threw my shit away?..." she questioned in disbelief. Sanaa felt she had just been shot in the chest. Yes her mom was putting her out, but with nothing to hustle with? Ouch
Sanaa threw her MCM backpack across her back onto her shoulders filled with whatever she could fit into it along with a suitcase full of clothes & shoes that would fit inside. She grabbed a few pictures and a small bear her grandma gave her. She wiped the tears that were running down her face quickly as she moved past her mother came and stood in the doorway watching her who stood in the doorframe. Opening the door to the outside world, Sanaa turned around to say one last thing.
" I won't be back , at all. I hope you get some help too. " She stated whole heartedly as she fought back the tears forming in her eyes, she grabbed her suitcase firmly and headed out the apartment walking down the stairs and going through the complex. Shalon watched her leave while standing on the little balcony area.
