Chapter 1: Jason
Standing by her grave, watching her coffin descend only made the feeling even more
surreal. You never really know what it feels like to truly feel desperately alone until you lose the one you love. Isabelle was the one who I loved and now, I understood the meaning of that sentence.
Chapter 2: Isabelle
"Fuck, Jason my psych final is tomorrow. I was supposed to study last night." I fell out of bed immediately and started grabbing my clothes off the floor. This happened every time; Jason's charm was unavoidable. I'd thought I would have wisened up by now and realize when he was trying to pull me into his ropes. However something about him was just so compelling and I couldn't resist. "Iz you've studied every night for the past 3 weeks. Do you really think 1 night will determine your entire grade?" I grabbed my socks and attempted to arrange the mess that was my hair managing to mumble a small, "yes" in response and hurried out of his room and through Jason's apartment and entered into the light of the Chicago summer sun. I checked my watch it was 9:53, which meant that I had exactly 7 minutes to make it to the Model UN Advisory Board meeting. Being that I missed the 9:30 bus and that I didn't have any means of transportation there was no way in hell that was happening. I texted Janele, " can't make meeting sorry please tell board."
She texted back almost immediately, "wtf do u mean Iz, you're the president. What do u want me to tell the board???"
" Just tell them that I'm sick please Janele"
" Whatever Iz I'll meet you at Vik's for lunch ok?"
Janele and I had been best friends since eighth grade. We'd pretty much been attached at the hip ever since. So much so, that she even convinced me to apply to the University of Chicago with her. And now, here we were. I stuck my phone back in my purse and started to walk over to Maclean Hall. Around 10:15 (after two separate coffee stops) I finally arrived in my dorm room. My roommate Kendal was still asleep. She was a small girl, 5'4 at the most. She kept to herself mostly however I didn't mind. I took out some new jeans and a white tank and headed to the bathroom.
Kendall and I were one of the few students lucky enough to have a bathroom in our own room. This luxury made it easy for me to take my time whenever I was in there. I rinsed my face in the sink and looked up at the mirror. My curly maroon locks were in a bun sagging behind my head and my brown eyes were looking particularly drab and bloodshot. I grabbed my clothes and started putting them on when, suddenly, a shockingly loud noise rang through the hall. I walked into the room where Kendal was now sitting awake. " Probably just someone moving a bookcase around or some freshmen prank.... I'll go check." she said. She hopped off her bed and put on her pink bunny slippers and opened the door, peeking her head into the hall. Another loud noise rang through the hall. " What the hell is going on!?" I said slightly annoyed. I started to walk towards the door right when Kendall put her hand on me holding me back and an obliterating loud noise rang once again. However this time Kendall slumped to the ground leaving the door open and a hooded figure with a gun looking directly in my eyes.
Another loud noise.
