*Louis POV*

I don't think I've ever felt so trapped in a car. Victoria was one of those people that just wouldn't shut up, and she bragged constantly about her adventures in America. I didn't feel jealous though, I didn't like how things were there.

"So, Louis, how are things here?" she asked.

"They're good. I make a very good income and I have a lovely penthouse in the heart of the city," I said quietly. I felt extremely uncomfortable speaking this way, because I felt like I was just bragging about my lifestyle.

She looked slightly disgruntled by this. I knew she made an low income, because a few weeks previous my mum had told me that Victoria's mother told her that Victoria was struggling to pay rent on her shoebox apartment in Los Angeles, California.

I also knew that she was a girl that wanted to live glamorously, and she had the perfect personality for a rich person. She's snobby, annoying, conceited, and high-maintenance. She was also pretty, but not my type in the slightest.

We sat in silence for about thirty seconds before Victoria started talking again.

"You know I had a really hot boyfriend back in LA," she bragged.

"Cool," I said absentmindedly. I knew she would get mad that I didn't care at all.

We pulled up the street that the apartment building was on, and we drove past another apartment building. It looked horrible. It's walls were crumbling brick by brick, and vines were growing up the side.

"That's such a disgusting building!" Victoria screeched.

"Be quiet, Victoria! There's a person out on the fire escape! They might have heard you and your nonsense!"

Victoria made a noise of disgust as she looked out her window at the old building.

"Why would anyone live there?" she wondered.

I shrugged. "Maybe they can't afford anything better. Besides, I'm sure it looks worse from the outside than the inside."

"I guess so," she said, annoyance clear in her voice.

We arrived at my apartment building shortly thereafter. We parked very close to the entrance of the building in my parking spot, and she got her suitcase out of the back seat.

"Oh this is amazing!" she exclaimed as we entered the lobby. I nodded and hit the up button on the elevator. We went into the elevator and I pressed the 10 button to go to the top floor.

We waited a couple of minutes and arrived on the tenth floor. When we stepped out of the elevator, there's only one door.

"You're the only person on this floor?" Victoria asked as I put my key into the lock on the front door.

"Yeah. Whoever built this building built only one penthouse," I said as I opened the door.

I flicked on the light as Victoria and I entered my flat.

I turned to put my car keys on the dish by the front door as Victoria went deeper into the flat.

Suddenly, I heard a loud shriek and the breaking of glass. Victoria came sprinting to me and grabbed me by the jacket.

"Louis oh my god there's a guy in the kitchen!" she screamed.

My heart raced. 'How could someone have broken in?' I thought.

I grabbed the metal baseball bat that I kept in the closet by the front door, and with Victoria behind me, I crept into the kitchen.

When I entered the kitchen, I dropped the baseball bat and started laughing.

"Zayn, what are you doing here?!" I asked. He smiled at me and gave me a big hug.

"I wanted to come see you, but you weren't home!" he explained. Victoria looked extremely furious.

"You said you were a robber!" she yelled at Zayn.

He rolled his eyes at her. "I also said I was joking, but I guess you're deaf because you didn't hear me."

She gave Zayn the most intense death glare I've ever seen, and I'm surprised he didn't burst into flames or bend over backwards.

I broke the intense silence and told Victoria that I would show her to her room. She picked up her suitcase and duffel bag and have Zayn one last glare, then walked towards the guest room.

When she was settled I returned to the kitchen, where Zayn was still standing and eating a bowl of cereal. He set down the bowl of cereal on the granite countertop and wrapped his arms tightly around me. I wrapped my arms around him as well.

I sighed deeply, breathing in the scent of his cologne. "I missed you a lot," I whispered.

He nodded and whispered, "I missed you too, Lou. We should never be apart this long. I can't handle not seeing my best friend for six months."

We pulled apart and he slung his arm over my shoulder, then directed us both to my bedroom. Zayn and I both took off our shoes and crawled into bed.

Now, I know what you're thinking. But Zayn is my best friend, and we cuddle a lot. We went under the covers and got really close. I leaned my head on his chest while his arms wrapped tightly around me, and I fell asleep to the sound of his steady heartbeat.
