Sherlock's POV
No. She can't gave seen me. No. How had I been so foolish? Irene Adler noticed things, and she had noticed me. Judging by the direction she was going and also by what she was wearing, she was going to the shops. But then she saw me, and changed directions. She's going to gone and tell somebody, pay a visit to their house. Nobody close to her though. She hailed a taxi, and when she told the cabbie the address it rung a bell...whose house was it?
Hold on. No. Molly's flat. She was going to tell Molly. I had to stop her, or at least try to explain to Molly.
I grabbed the last of the changed I had left, and got into the next taxi.
Irene's POV
I swallowed. I had a choice. Should I tell her? She was obviously hurt badly by his death. But if she knew that he was alive...she might got after him. He was just going to break her heart. He wasn't right for Molly. He needed somebody who could understand him, and Molly was far from that.
"You miss him, don't you Molly?"
She nodded.
"Don't." I said firmly.
She looked at me, surprised.
"Sorry, what?"
"He's not worth it. You know how it feels to have him break your heart. I know how it feels. And it really isn't worth it, wasting your time missing him. Because he'll never come, Molly. Understand that."
I was satisfied. Technically, I hadn't lied to her. But her brown eyes filled with tears and she looked away.
"You're right." she said quietly in a hurt voice.
"Wipe up your tears then. Put on a brave face, and forget about him."
She nodded, and wiped the tears from her face.
Molly's POV
Irene was right. But I wasn't just going to forget Sherlock. I wonder if she knew...
"Um, Irene?" I said hesitantly.
"Yes?" She looked at me.
"I just wondered...before he left, did he tell you anything?"
She frowned.
"What do you mean?"
She didn't know.
"You know how he was discovered...discovered to be a fake? And committed suicide?"
She nodded slowly.
"He was real. He was no fraud. And he didn't take his own life, somebody else did. He knew that he was going to die."
I looked at her. She didn't look surprised.
"So, he did tell you then?" I asked, confused.
She smirked. "No. But i wasn't stupid enough to fall for that lie."
I blinked. "What do you mean, not *stupid* enough? The rest of the world fell for it. John fell for it. I would have fallen for it."
She chuckled at my annoyance.
"John isn't exactly the brightest guy out there."
I glared at her. "John is my friend. He is not stupid." I said through gritted teeth. She just raised her eyebrows at me. That was it.
"Don't think that you can just walk in here in the middle of the night, tell me to forget the one man I loved and insult my friends! This is MY flat, Miss Adler, and I would rather like it if you left right now." I yelled. She smirked, and i felt my hand raise and slap her in the face. She stood up and walked out the door. I sat down again, and the tears began to flow.
Sherlock's POV
I watched from outside as Molly sobbed. Preparing for the worst, I knocked on the door.
