This book is written from the POV of Princess Kendra. Any similarities to other books is completely accidental/coincidental. I will be posting as often as I write so mostly likely once, if not more, a week. I hope you enjoy this story!
- StarStruck_2018I woke up to see a hooded man hovering over me. He had a dagger in his hand and I could see two swords strapped to his back. If the guards were so incompetent as to let this man into the palace, during a war, then after tonight they would see my wrath.
"Who sent you?" I manage to whisper quietly, almost surprised that I didn't scream it at him. I hated anyone who disturbed my sleep in any way, especially when they were trying to kill me.
"Oh Princess, don't be so small-minded. No one sent me-this is my own revenge mission for everything your family has done to me." he said, harshly and quietly. His voice was deep and sounded oddly familiar.
"I don't know what I've done to you, but you will never get away with this."
"But I already have." he stated, right before his dagger plunged down towards me. Out of reflex I grab my dagger strapped on my thigh and not a second too soon I heard the sweet sound of metal against metal. I heard him grunt in surprise, as if he thought it would be so easy to kill me.
"As I said, you aren't getting away with this." He kept pushing harder on my blade and slowly it moved closer and closer to my vulnerable neck. Sweat started to slide down my pale face in the effort to keep the blade from impaling my neck. While I was too concentrated on keeping that blade away from me, I hadn't noticed that he had pull out one of his swords until it was against my side. I watched in disbelief as the long sharp edge of the sword bounced off me without leaving a trace.
"No. Impossible." he muttered. He instinctively backed away before looking at me and sheathing his sword. His stare was full of hatred but yet, at the same time, confusion. He looked out of the open window and then back at me, indecisive to whether or not he should leave. I slowly got up and cautiously walked towards him. When I was close enough to touch him, I slowly raised my hand and pulled back his hood. Seeing his face clearly now, I gasped.
"Prince Darian?" I whisper. The son of the king who waged war against my country was my soulmate. He grimaced at his name being said almost as if he hated it. No, he hated the way that I said it, I had used his title. He was lucky that I couldn't hurt him because I wanted to actually kill him this time.
