"Mama please, he's your son. Why won't you help him?" I asked her, but her smug face told me her answer. He was disgusted in Jonathan for some reason. "Why do you hate him so much? What did he do to you that made you hate your own son?" I asked her, pleasing for an answer "Cause they child is a spitting image of his father. His father left me and you bastards for kids with nothing!" she exclaimed. So all these years, her anger for us was because of dad, thanks dad for the abuse and hard ache. I left the house, with no leads o evidence to clean Jonathan name, until I saw Christopher, he may know something. I walked towards his direction, "So what does my little sister want now?" he asked being a smug pain in the butt again "Listen, I need your help Christopher. Now, is there any cameras in the alley way near that club downtown?" I asked, at this point I was desperate for an answer or a lead. "Why should I help you. You never gave a damn about me before, why should I give a damn about you?" he exclaimed, and he was right. Under all that dope, he is still my older brother. I reached over and hugged Christopher as tight as I could "I'm so sorry Christopher. I love you just remember that." I uttered, and I meant it all. He hugged me back, feeling something he hasn't felt in many years, love. "I love you too, and there's a store next to the club with a a camera set up in the alley, go check it out." he explained. thank god for Christopher! I immediately ran to the store, hoping to catch the clerk before he leaves.
I ran into the store, panting rapidly, I pregnant chick like me shouldn't be running so much. The store clerk was still there thank God, "Hey! I need to check your camera from the alley way." I said to the old man. He looked at me like I was crazy, "Why exactly?" he asked me "Cause my rapist maybe on there." I uttered, and as his eyes widen, he immediately took me to the back and let me look at the tape. As I was playing the tape back, I found it, the exact scene of the rape. Maybe there is hope for Jonathan.
I called Selena, Jonathan's lawyer, and called her over to show her the tape. "This proves that you were raped. Now we need something to prove Jonathan didn't kill Rodney." she said, and I had no idea how we were going to find that type of evidence. The clerk then came out with two different tapes "These will prove your friend innocent." the clerk said and gave it to us. We didn't know what was on the tapes, but if it could help free Jonathan, we'll take what we can get.
As we arrived to the court, they were just about to give Jonathan his sentence. We busted in the doors and yelled "Stop!" so they wouldn't sentence him. "You better have a good reason for being late Ms. Gray." the judge said to Selena. "Your honor, we have recovered three tapes that can prove Jonathan Paige innocent." she stated then put the first taps in. The first tape was me getting raped by Rodney, it was hard for the whole court room to watch, especially me and Jonathan. "As you could see, there is no way my clients sister want that to happen." Selena stated and I could see the jury were thinking differently, that's good I hope. Then she put in the second tape, it showed Rodney walked the opposite way from his house, a bloody mess from the fight. Then out of nowhere, a white car drive up and shot him dead, it was devastating. "As you saw from that, the man who killed Rodney James was a white man with a mask on."Selena stated, and I noticed Rodney's lawyer looked very concerned once she put the last tape in. Once the last tape played, it showed Rodney's lawyer talking to the clerk. "Listen, I don't care if you know who killed that black creep, we're gonna say it was another black guy maybe the guy with blood on his hands." the lawyer said in the video. Everyone looked at the lawyer in disgust, "And as you see in this video, he knew the hole time who really killed Rodney James." Selena stated, and I could tell the jury mind was changed. "We will take a ten minute recess so the jury can look over the evidence.
After the ten minutes were up, the jury came back out with their decision. "We find Jonathan Paige...not guilty on all charges." the spokesman for the jury said, and Jonathan jumped up and hugged Selena and me, thank God we saved his life. "And as for you, I'm holding under contempt for keeping evidence from the court. Guards take him out my court room." the judge ordered and the guards removed the crooked lawyer. It was finally over.
