Chapter One

Len

I woke up being dragged down the stairs by Rin.

"If you keep sleeping in this late then I'll just throw you down the stairs." she muttered.

"That's mean. Do you want me dead?"

"Len! Sorry, you slept in so late today and wouldn't wake up." Rin sighed before saying. "Well, I made some toast. Oh, and ignore the possible explosion and/or fire next door, it's nothing."

I trudged back upstairs in pain and took my uniform out of my drawers and called. "Rin did you give me your uniform by accident?"

She appeared in the door and answered. "Nope. I never checked the uniforms. You're just gonna have to wear what you got." Then she left me alone. I reluctantly put on the girl's uniform.

"I'm so wearing leggings underneath this." I muttered and sifted through the drawers to find them.

"There." I sighed then trudged downstairs.

"Merci pour la nourriture.(Thank you for the meal)" I chirped and dug into the eggs and toast. I heard a faint "Ah! Fire!" from next door. Did our neighbor accidentally set something on fire? I checked the time on the oven clock and started to panic. "Rin, where are you? We're almost late!" I called.

"Right here." she replied. "I just needed to find my bow. Oh, and race you there." She flung the door open and took off down the street.

"Rin, wait up!" I called out. A little ways away I heard Rin cackling madly. "You can't catch me!" I saw her round the corner that then led to the school. She was going to beat me no matter what because one, she got a head start and two, she was faster than me. I rounded the final corner and...

Bam!

I felt someone crash into me. I felt the wind get knocked out of me on impact with the concrete. There was some pressure on my chest before it finally lifted. I slowly opened my eyes to see an older boy hovering over me. He scrambled back.

"Ah! Sorry!" he exclaimed. The sound of metal on metal could be heard a few feet away.

"Ah! We're locked out, and on the first day too." the boy said.

The boy ran to the gates while holding my hand. He finally realized and began introducing himself. "I'm so sorry! I'm Koshin Fukase. I've never seen you around here, you new?"

"Est maintenant vraiment une bon temps à présenter toi même?(Is now a really good time to introduce yourself?)" I realized what I said. I guess my French slipped out.

"Wait, what did you say? I don't know French or whatever language you spoke."

"I meant to say, is now really a good time to introduce yourself?"

"No, it's not, I just felt like it was appropriate. Anyway, how are we going to get over the wall and make it to the entrance ceremony?"

I finally realized that we had no idea how to get there. I stared at the gate for a few seconds. "We could climb over the wall?"

"That actually sounds like a good idea. Come on." Fukase climbed over the wall with no problem.

"Success! Ah!" He fell and landed on the other side of the of the wall.

"Um, Koshin-san can you help me? I can't get up." I unsuccessfully tried to grip onto the top. I hate being so weak. I don't think I get enough exercise anyway.

"Aw, you're adorable. You're like a little cat." he teased.

"I am not like a little cat!" I protested. I'm not that little, maybe on the shorter side of things but definitely not little.
