Chapter Four

"Who needs the guns" said one of the guards but he had such a deep voice which just made him intimidating.After long hours of walking we finally made it back. Just as we were entering the gate, everyone seemed so amazed by something in the sky. "Is that an airship?" Mariah asked,and it was. It probably landed right around Atlantis. Jacob and Mariah went to get more food for our trip while I took care of the guns. The base was surrounded by guards; I knew this was going to be difficult. I ran towards one of the guards screaming that my mother is having a seizure, he followed me into a tent where I had a bags covered in blankets to make it seem like a real body.I stood behind him where I hit his neck with a pan. I took his clothes and helmet, in hope I blended in with the rest. I walked towards base hesitantly and told the two guards we were in need of guns. They opened the door and it was simpler than I thought. I walked into the room where it was filled with guns,armor, vests-anything you could think of. The room was dimmed, I felt myself breathe heavily. I took the guns and headed out the room. I nodded to both of the guards and they nodded back. The doors close behind me and I thought to myself I did it. Well, just until one of the guards called back. My heart started racing.

"Ashley" I said

"So your name is Baldwin?"

I didn't take off the name tag. I tried to run for it and I tripped over my own shoes, I seen Landon in the distance looking at me.

"I didn't think so"

The guards handcuffed me and I tried to resist but now there might not be a way to get Marcus back. They put me in a room where I was pacing back and forth waiting for someone to talk to me. I heard steps coming from the corridor and it was Ashley with all her guards behind her. "This isn't like you" as her first words. I sensed she was expecting me to say something back but I stood there in silence.

"I'm just going to have you here for the rest of the night",

"No, no you have to let me out now"

"I have way too much on my hands I cannot be worrying about you as well"

And she left. That's great; I'm stuck here for a couple more hours. I sat there just staring at the ceiling, maybe my mom would talk to Ashley? Maybe not. I heard grunts and punches coming down from the hall. And maybe it was just me hallucinating, I'm so dehydrated and I haven't eaten since last night. My hands were trembling, I felt nauseous. My vision was getting blurry; I could recognize that the door was opened. I felt somebody shaking me, saying my name. I tried to say yes, on the very verge of passing out. They gave me water and soon after that I realized it was Landon. He had guns wrapped around his body; I was so confused for a moment. He carried me and we escaped through the back. I felt the warmth of his skin on mine, how defined his body was but I couldn't focus myself. I leaned closer to his chest. He brought me to the cave where we met Mariah and Jacob. I got the chance to eat while Landon went out to see what was going on with Ashley.

"So what's the plan?" said Jacob

"Why are you looking at me" I said with food stuffed in my mouth

"Because look what you were willing to do for Marcus, that was brave" said Mariah

I smiled; they are like my family now. We packed up and went to base, trying to look for Landon. There was an announcement going on with Ashley.

"I know a lot is happening right now but I can assure you, I am not responsible for John's murder. We have gotten word that Joey Brown is responsible for the death of former president Mark; this was released by President Blake of Atlantis. This also, now leads the 4,000 passengers we left in space. Yes it is a lot to take in, but everything is being handled. Thank you" Ashley said.
