Serena was down on her luck and had been since she was twenty. She'd been living off Disability with her significant other and avoiding the world that terrified her. Unfortunately, the veil that enshrouded her in safety was soon to come crashing down around her. Her Disability, and only means to give her life meaning, was being called into question.
A court case was scheduled for her Birthday. The big twenty-six when she would no longer be allowed to piggy-back off her Mother's Insurance any longer. If the case didn't go in her favor she also wouldn't be given enough to live even marginally independent anymore. To make matters worse, her significant other had cheated on her and was leaving for a younger and prettier woman.
To say Serena was having a bad is an understatement. It would be better to say that she was having a terrible month. She was to afraid to go outside so had become suicidal but then she was also afraid of dying so now she was merely existing. In concern her Mother begged her to go and go to a Mental Health Facility.
"Please, just go and get help," she begged.
Her Step-Father used harsher means, "If you don't go and get this help, you will be a burden. You don't want to be the person who you keep thinking yourself, correct?"
So with those encouraging words, Serena packed up a bag and reluctantly allowed her Mother and Step-Father drive her to 'get help' and into the unknown.
A/N: So, I had begun this while I was within the Facility and none of what I am writing is anyway supposed to be completely true. It is a dramatization of things I thought up while within the Facility. All the Workers there were amazing and polite. With how crazy everything got, I'm just grateful that all the staff kept level heads, were kind and polite the entire time irregardless. In a sense this is to immortalize them without using their names nor their true characters I suppose. And if Erika is reading this, I hope you enjoy. :P
