"MOTHER!!" I scream across the room "you are not to leave the house in that sort of attire Amelia!" my mother responds. I turn around and look into the mirror hanging next to the front door in our entry way. Im wearing a black maxi dress with a silver cross neckless. I have been trying to re-create myself for a while. My mom has always wanted me to dress more preppy and more like the stereotypical "upper eastside girl" you know brightly colored, fluffy dresses that you would wear to a tea party. Im expected to be the perfect, preppy, rich girl like my mother envisioned when i was born....To be honest, i don't mind this at all i love the lilly pulitzer and kate spade dresses im expected to wear and the fabulous parties i attend (but mostly host), but the only reason im forced to live this kind of life is because of my moms harsh competitive habits with the other moms. All she wants is the perfect daughter to follow in my cousin Blaire Waldorf's foot steps. I want the reason that my mom provides this pampered life for me to be because its what i want. Not because she wants to use me as her pawn in her perfect life.
