New Girl

It was a cool summer day, one of those days where you can go outside and not need a jacket or light clothes. Father had left early to get supplies from a nearby shop.  He always went the opposite direction of the town we were right by.  My nose twitches at the new scent I pick up. A girl and her parents walk through the town gate. Her father is tall and largely built. He has curly red hair that does not seem to want to be fixed. It matches the beard going down to the middle of his chest. From looking at him I can tell he is powerful,  where I sit I can make out a woody scent coming from him. Next to him is a woman who looks so fragile she could break. She is shorter than him and the girl. Long chocolate brown hair falls past the small of her back. Her face contrasts her figure, a stern watching glare fixes on everybody in the town.  Like she is analyzing all of the ones she sees.  Then there is the girl,  taller than the mother yet smaller than the father. She has the same hair as her father,  red and curly. It would look unruly on a person but it fit her face well. She had a round face and a rather large build. The expression on her face was one I have never seen on a person before.  As they walked in a family greets them and takes them to a house.  I go to follow but hear my father return to our house. Quickly I run back into the woods to him in time to see him turn to face our frowning at me.  My father is tall and very well built,  he says it comes with the job.He works most days running errands for a man in the other town. He has short black hair with stubble that never seems to go away on his chin. Lately his sky blue eyes have looked tired all the time and sad. Well I guess that's what happened after my mother left. I look like her with very light almost white hair and skin as pale as the clouds. Dad always found it weird how I stay pale even though I spend my days outside.
"I still don't understand why you feel the need to watch the humans all the time." He said as I walked up onto the porch of the house.
"They're interesting and seem nice.  I wish I could Talk to them.  New ones moved in today.  A family! There was a mom a dad and a daughter.  She was pretty but they aren't like us." I said frowning at the last part. There is a reason me and Dad don't live in the town. We aren't human exactly,  we are monsters as the people call it. Though I don't believe we really are. We are lupines as Dad puts it.  It means we are half-human half-wolf. This means that we have wolf ears and a tail, also that we can change into a wolf form. The humans don't accept us because of how we are different. They think that we are the creature that scares them so much. So my dad moved with me and my mom to the woods.
"That doesn't make them any different.  Now I brought you lunch then I have to go back to help Mr. Gray. Don't forget your chores. " He sets down a box with food for me in it. Then he kisses my head and leaves me alone again. It was a common occurrence for him to do this.  He goes to work at 5 in the morning,  comes back to bring me lunch,  then works until 9 at might. Leaving me at home to do what I please,  though I usually go watch the humans. I go over to the table and eat the lunch he left for me while thinking about the new people in the town.
