Have you ever walked up to someone and realized they were just talking about you? Or have people stared at you when your walking through the hall? That's what it's like for me right now. Everyone knew I was different. The shinning silver spiral tattoo that covered my left eyelid and twirled around my forehead and cheekbone made sure I stood out. I had the mark of a Dreamer. It doesn't sound that bad, but walking around with everyone staring at me and giving me dirty looks made me feel like I had a highly contagious disease... and that was only the begining.

My name is Mona Luna Zamorae. I have long black hair and bright green eyes that make my pale skin look even paler. I live in Murrieta, California I am sixteen and am a junior at Murrieta Mesa High School. I live with my amazing fifteen year-old sister, Nikki Estrella Zamorae, and horrid mother (I actually don't know her first name). Nikki and I have been close since forever. My mother adores Nikki and hates me, though the feeling is mutual. Nikkia doesn't like Mother either but she would never tell a soul, except for me.

~FLASHBACK!~

Over Spring Break, I took Nikki to the mall in San Diego to go shopping. While we were in Hollister, I had slipped into what I can only make out to be as a mini comma. I fell on the ground and woke up as soon as my head hit the tile the floor. My "marvelous" tattoo sprung up then, along with a letter.

"Dearest Mona, We have ben notified that you have been marked a Dreamer. We would love to have you attend our school with students who are also Dreamers. Please contact us for any questions or concerns you may have. I look forward to meeting you.

-Principal Amorae-"

Nikki and I just starred at eachother. She helped me up and, as her eyes filled up with tears, I took her into a big hug.

"I don't want to be anywhere without you, Mimi!" Nikki told me between sobs, using her old nick-name for me. I calmed her down and went to pay for our matching black leather jackets with a gray cotton hood. I took her bags from her, we had gone to Hot Topic, Tillys, and Anchor Blue, and we walked right out of the store, out the mall and made our way to my gray Jeep. My whole front seat was a bench so, as I drove, Nikki was crying and snugling in my side.

To say Mother wasn't happy when we got home was the understatement of the world. She yelled at me and acted like it was my fault. I stood there quietly and took all of her verbal abuse, which was out of character for me. I heard footsteps and a loud slapping sound. I looked up to see that Nikki had Slapped Mother hard on her right cheek leaving a very big red mark.

"Don't you dare talk about my sister like that." Nikki told Mother sternly. Mother looked dumbstruck and only nodded. Nikki took my hand and led us to my room.

We blasted "Love The Way You Lie" as she helped me pack my summer clothes, bathing suits, and other things I wouldn't need while I stayed. We decided I would stay one week and then leave. We both secretly prayed Nikki would be able to come with me. I would call Principal Greer after school on Monday. That night was Saturday and Nikki slept in my room. Sunday was basically a continuation of Saturday night. Nikki stayed with me that night, too. School was going to be brutal because there was no way any amount of make up could cover up my tattoo.

-END OF FLASHBACK-

I got to my first period anatomy and sat in my stool in the very back. Ignoring the stares and whispers, I got out my notebook and pens. I sighed and set my backpack on the ground and got out my homework. The really cute guy in all of my classes sat next to me. His name is Stephan and he has black, short, spiky hair, brown eyes, tan skin, and is tall. Suddenly I forgot everything but how his hand felt on my mine. I looked into his eyes. I saw worry, concern, compassion, and...love?
