Chapter 1 : Accommodation error..

The broker's office was just three buildings away from the hotel that Zoya had put up at temporarily. As she walked in she found a very sharply dressed young man in the chair.

"Mr. Deshmukh?"

"Yes! Yes! And you must be Miss Siddiqui right? I  remember  seeing your picture that you had sent for the rent agreement. Please have a seat." "So Mr. Desh..." "Call me Rohan" "Rohan. When can I move in? Has the landlord given any new guidelines or is it still just the no drinking in the apartment and no staying out after 12 rule?" "Oh the rules are pretty much the same. You can move in tomorrow itself. Also I have some news." "Yes?" "You'll be sharing the apartment - you know that right?" " Yes you had mentioned it previously. It's a 2 BHK, I'll get one room and another girl would be living in the other one." "Yeah see that's the thing. Your roommate is not a girl. It's a man." "What!"
Zoya stood up with a start. "You must be kidding me. I was told that I'd be sharing the apartment with a girl." "So was I Ma'am. But it turns out that the girl is actually a guy. We somehow were provided wrong information and now we're told that you'd be living with a certain Aditya Hooda." "How this error occurred is not my concern. I want it rectified. I'm not gonna live a strange man." "Ma'am please try to understand. All the papers have been signed and the deposit has been given. If you don't stay in that place for atleast 3 months you won't be getting your deposit money back." "That is your problem. You have to get me my money back as this is your company's fault. I'm not going to compromise on such an essential thing. How do you expect me to live alone with  a man who I do not know at all. For all I know he could be a tharki!" "Ma'am he's a pilot with a leading international airline. He can't be a lewd guy." "Okay maybe not. But still. I can't live with an unknown man 24x7 for 3 months." " He'd probably be out for more than fifteen days a month. So really it won't be an issue." "And what will the society members say? Will they let a man and a woman who haven't been married live together in their building?" "Ma'am this is Mumbai we're talking about. One of the most open minded cities  of the country. Also most people in your building are either aspiring actors or students or workers from outside Mumbai. It won't be a big deal at all" "Yeah okay fine. But no more than three months. You better find me another good place of the same stature and same rate till then." "Yes ma'am. I'll do it. I would suggest you move in tomorrow and try to tolerate your new roommate. I'll find you a great place within this month and get the agreement process started soon so that you can move as soon as these three months are over." "Yes. I hope you do."
