Neuroimaging studies have shown that brain regions involved processing physical pain overlap considerably with those tied to social anguish. (Jaffe, 2013). Broken Heart Syndrome is characterized by normal coronary arteries, regional wall motion abnormalities that extend beyond a single coronary vascular bed, and often, a precipitating stressor. (Hurst, et. Al, 2010). Its temporary that is often brought on by stressful situations, such as the death of a loved one.
