As I was training with my Pokémon outside the Pokémon center, I suddenly heard a loud noise. It was almost like a growl. I then noticed it had been my stomach, so I blushed and decided to head back inside to eat something.

As soon as I walked in, the first person I saw was Drew surrounded by all his fangirls. Poor him. Apparently, he didn't seem to have notice me, which is good because I was planning on scaring him. I walked closer to were he was with all his fangirls ready to put my plan into action when I heard one of Drew's fangirls say something.

"So Drew, what's up with that brunette girl known as May?" One of them asked. "What do you mean?" Drew responded. "I mean, why are you always with her? It's there something we don't know?" The same girl asked. I retraced my tracks and hid wanting to hear Drew's answer. "Well for starters, she's my rival. Nothing more, nothing less." Drew stated camly. What?... B-But.. I-I thought he said we have something special? Was that all just a lie?

"Hey Drew, why do you care about me so much?" He looked at me with a smile, a real smile not just a smirk.

"Because you're very special to me May... More than you can ever imagine." He said. I smiled at his kinds words. I realized this time he didn't call me month names but my real name, May.

Drew somehow always makes my heart flutter for some reason. There was another moment of silence.

...

"I suppose this rose is for my Pokémon, right?" She asked. Drew smirked. "Not precisely October, I was meaning to give you this rose for a while now." He said.

"Um... I don't understand? I lost..." May said clueless. "That's exactly why you deserve it, you didn't give up, you tried you're best." Drew stated.

"I still don't get it but... t-thanks Drew." May responded blushing slightly. She then smiled at Drew. The difference this time was that it wasn't fake, it was real.

H-He lied... But why? Why to me, anyways? I couldn't contain myself anymore. I left my hidden spot were I was hiding and looked at Drew. I suddenly burst into tears causing all of Drew's fangirls to turn their attention to me, even Drew. Drew looked at me shocked.

"M-May? Look... um.. I can explain!" He said standing up. "Save it, Drew." I said and then ran to nurse joy and asked for my key room. As soon as she gave it to me, I sprinted towards my room hearing Drew shouting my name behind me ready to follow me but some of his fangirls took a hold of him and stopped him. Hmph! Serves him right.

The next morning I woke up by the sound of the birds singing. It felt like a beautiful day until everything that had happened yesterday came back to my mind. Ugh! I quickly changed into my normal traveling outfit and placed my bandana on my head as I closed the door. I went to the lobby of the Pokémon center to see my friends sitting on one of the couches giving Pokémon food to their Pokémon.

"Morning May." Ash said as he saw me. "Morning Ash, morning everyone!" I responded. Brock, who was placing Pokémon food into bowls for our Pokémon, stood up and gave me a note with a red rose attached to it. "Huh? What's this?" I questioned. "It's from Drew. He told me to give this to you when he left." Brock said. "Drew... Wait! He left already?" I said. "I don't think so... I saw him by the bridge this morning." Ash answered.

I smiled. Even if Drew said I'm just a rival to him, why should I care? I mean, it's not like he likes me or anything so... I shouldn't worry for the way he thinks of me. Besides, he's right. We're just rivals, nothing more, nothing less. Why on Earth should I be mad at him? I think he deserves an apology.

I was about to open the door, when I spotted a certain red headed girl approach me.

...

Wait... That's the girl that beat me in my contest two days ago!

She smiled when she saw me. I wanted nothing else but to get out of here. My knees were shaking. "Looks like we meet again!" She paused for a second. "May, was it?" I could only nod. She smiled once more.

Why is she smiling and being so nice? From what I remember, I was really rude to her. She had asked me if we could be friends, but I didn't listen and said no... so why is she being nice??

She saw my confused face and said, "Look, I'm sorry about what happened during the contest two days ago. I shouldn't have said anything or given you advice if you didn't need it. I'm also sorry that I asked you to be my friend... I was only trying to cheer you up." She apologized. I was surprised at her sincered apology. I smiled and said, "There's no need to apologize... I'm the one that should be apologizing. I was really mean to you and didn't even give you a chance to be friends... It's just that I was disappointed in myself... I'm sorry."

"Nah, it's fine. How about we just forget about what happened and start over?" She asked. I nodded happily. "So um... Friends?" I asked, stretching my arm out. "Friends." She said while shaking it.

Kiara and I talked for quite some time and then it was time for her to go. I waved goodbye to her. I hope I get to see her soon again in a contest! I was about to go back to my room, since we weren't planning on leaving the Pokémon center just yet, when I remembered something important.

Drew's note. I never got the chance to read it since Kiara came all of a sudden. I reached for the letter that was in my yellow bag and looked at the front. It read, 'May'. I couldn't contain myself anymore. I opened it and began to read it.

Dear May,

I know you're still mad at me and I get it. You have every right to be mad at me... but I just wanted to say that I'm sorry. I didn't mean those words the way they came out of my mouth. I hope you can forgive me. I'm by the golden bridge, if for some reason, you decide to come find me.

Ps. I hope you like the rose 🌹

-Drew

I smiled at the note. I'm happy he apologized, he was being really honest. I think the right thing to do right now is to apologize to him. He deserves an apology.

I grabbed my room key and walked out the door of the Pokémon center. It was raining... but meh. Who cares? Drew's more important right now.
