Lyon woke up that morning as tired as he was when retired that night, sleep had refused to give him comfort and he wondered why even sleep seemed to detest him. He had chugged almost half of the whiskey in the decanter beside his bed, it was only then that sleep decided to grant solace to his misery. Even then it was in the early hours of the morning, as soon as he felt the sun begin to rise he was awake again spotting a hangover.
Sitting at the balcony having his morning coffee, Simon had informed him that the girl from the night before had awoken, she had been attended to and was on her way up to meet him. barely minutes after this information was relayed to him, a maid walked into his line of vision while he was back to reading business articles. He hated that, people being around when they were not needed, as he looked up to know why she was there when he saw her.
The flourisent light in the guest room did not do her any justice, but the morning sun told the truth as it's rays kissed her. Her hair had been brushed out and her black curls stood out, she was clean now, no smudges of dirt on her skin anymore and she had on clean clothes, a dark blue knee length dress. Her arms where bare so was her neck line so he saw almost everything, the bruises and cuts on her skin, from the ones that had darkened to the ones that where fading to the fresh ones.
He was staring he knew but he was angry, and he did not understand why. it wasn't his business and he did not even know this woman, but the thought that there was someone out there sharing the same gender with him doing this to a woman was nauseating to him. He addressed his composure and watched as the maid whom he has never attempted to learn her name leave, then he saw her fear, her hesitancy as she also watched the maid leave, she turned to look at him and again he gestured to the empty seat beside him.
"sit"
she looked from him to the empty seat then back at him, he saw her raise her chin and stand shoulder straight, probably what she thought was a confident and a ' i'm not scared stance' he smiled inwardly, but what she said next had him sitting up in his seat and wiping any trace of humor from his mind.
"I was told i am not a prisoner here" she said he could visibly see her trembling
"you are not" Lyon replied with all seriousness
"Are you the same person that chased me down the alley last night?" she asked she needed clearification even though she already knew.
"No" he answered in a stern tone
"good" was all she said, he saw her relax a bit she still had her guard up, he could see it, and it was justified.
"sit" he said for the third time
Alycia complied this time, he had only said seven words to her but his tone explained that he was someone who is used to giving out orders and having people follow suit. Assuming he was lying and she was indeed a prisoner she had to get on his good side, but one thing was sure he was not the same disgusting human who had tried to take advantage of her the night before.
she walked towards him in feigned confidence, because she had none, her uncle had made sure to beat that out of her by the time she was thirteen all she had to do was pretend. she sat down on the seat he had offered and dusted invisible dust and wrinkles out her dress, trying to keep her hands busy so that he would not see them trembling. All the while he watched her,
"what is your name" he asked without taking his eyes off her
she looked up sharply and their eyes met, they were a dark shade of brown he noted to himself
"Alycia, Alycia parker" she said
