" ... "
The dining room was currently a rather awkward place; everyone sat at their appropriate seats - though all they did was just stare down at their food with hungry, impatient eyes. They didn't touch not a single crumb.
It was obvious that some were getting increasingly agitated at this.
"How much longer do we have to wait?" whined Tsubaki, head and arms sprawled against the table. "I'm starving!"
The redhead sitting across from him nodded his head furiously, looking exasperated, "I know! Just let us eat already, Kyo-nii!"
He put up a hand; eyes giving the other a hard look. "No, it's not proper to eat until the guest is seated as well," the second oldest answered, arms crossed in a stubborn fashion. "We must wait."
Multiple groans were heard from all over the table at this, as well as the prominent sound of stomachs rumbling. Yusuke, with one arm around his yowling stomach, snapped his head towards Ema.
"When the hell is that girl going to get here?!" he demanded, lips fixed in an annoyed pout.
"Oh, um ... " Ema shyly twiddled her thumbs as she replied; glancing up slightly. "She said she'll come downstairs once she's finished unpacking."
Ukyo gave a small nod at that; adjusting an unused, beige-coloured napkin over his lap, "It shouldn't take too long to unpack, so let's all just be patient, ok?"
There were then some weak grumbles of protest, but everyone eventually complied, and waited.
(Nearly an hour later)
"That's it!"
A fair-skinned hand slammed itself against the table; Yusuke looking as irritated as can be.
"I'm sick of this! Our food is getting colder and colder by the minute!" He made a wild grab for his fork, huffing, "I'm going to eat, and you can't stop me!"
Face barely even lifting up from the table, Tsubaki agreed, "Yeah, I'm sorry Kyo-nii, but I'm going to die of hunger if I wait any longer - !"
He then made to collapse dramatically, but Azusa grabbed his twin by the back of his shirt before he could do so, chiding,
"Get ahold of yourself, Tsubaki."
The only female sitting within the table looked a bit flustered; Ema frowning lightly, "I wonder what's taking her so long ... ! She said she would be here ... "
"Ema-chan," the oldest twin began, swallowing. He placed a hand upon her shoulder. "Looks like you've been deceived."
"E-eh? Really?" Her frown seemed to deepen as she looked confused. "What makes you think that?"
The white-haired man melted, "Oh Ema-chan, so naive! How cute ~ !"
Before the poor girl could process the scene, his arms had already wandered to her shoulders; Tsubaki about to envelop the younger into a hug.
But, Azusa soon came to the brunette's rescue; giving the male a swift chop to the back of his head. Like a vampire would with a ray of light, the silverette shrivelled away from Ema almost immediately, clutching the spot.
"Azusaaa!" he whined, giving the other a harmless glare. "Why do you always have to interfere?! I was only going to give our darling little sis a hug - !"
The other pushed up his glasses, "She was obviously feeling uncomfortable."
Ema gave a small nod in agreement; a faint blush dusting her cheeks, "Y-yes, it's true. Thank you, Azusa-san."
"Aw ... ! But Ema-channn - !"
While Tsubaki continued to make noise, Ukyo took the liberty of clearing his throat, it being loud enough to catch the attention of the other four siblings seated at the table.
"Ahem. I apologize to interrupt, but there is an important announcement I have to make. This is directed more to Azusa and Tsubaki, as they weren't present at the time, but - "
"It's about that Rurijo girl, isn't it," huffed Yusuke, setting down his fork.
Ukyo strained to produce a smile. "Yes it is, Yusuke, thank you for informing everyone. Now if I may continue - "
"Hey - do you think this 'Rurijo' person is the same girl we saw earlier, Azusa?" This time Tsubaki was the one to interrupt; turning to his near-mirror image.
Azusa sighed, "I don't know, Tsubaki. Though it is possible."
" ... Can you all please let me continue?" Ukyo gave them all a look, to which everyone hurriedly nodded at. He could be scary when angered.
Exhaling deeply, he stated, "Anyways, as Mother said earlier, Rurijo will be staying here for the time being. The reason why, I do not know. How long she's staying here, I don't know either."
"So, Mother basically invited a complete stranger into our house?" Yusuke stated, scrunching up his nose.
"How strange ... And you know next to nothing on this too, right?" Azusa quirked a dark violet brow.
"I only know what Mother told me," Ukyo replied with faint annoyance, not liking how the younger worded his question. "She chose to be rather secretive on this, which is a first."
He straightened his posture, now putting a smart finger in the air, "But, anyhow, I'm sure Mother would appreciate it if we treated this girl with respect, stranger or not."
"Ugh, so annoying," grumbled Yusuke, absentmindedly twirling a pinkie in the glass of cola in front of him. "She doesn't even seem like the type to deserve respect anyway."
"W-well," Ema began, with an small, optimistic smile. "I'm sure Rurijo-san will open up sooner or later, right ... ?"
After all, everyone opens up eventually, in Ema's eyes.
...
Though, deep down inside, even she was feeling a little doubtful.
