I sit alone at lunch just like any other day prior. Feeling like I'll always be alone and forgotten. The popular girls walk past and snicker and smirk. I proceed to put my headphones to drown out their all too familiar laughs. I oddly enough look like the kind to be popular. Pretty with green eyes and light brown hair. Of course, that never gets me anywhere. It almost feels like I am hated for it. I didn't really mind. Who needed popular high school friends when I had three of the greatest people in the world. Jack, Savannah, and Zoe.I hear yelling but don't look, hoping it would go away soon. To my dismay, it continues. I finally turn around to see Jake and Ben. They may be brothers but they hate each other. They tend to start drama. Then I see Savannah standing by Jake with Zoe not far behind. I can barely understand what they're yelling about, but it seems serious. Jake is furiously yelling, Savannah is backing him up and Zoe seems to be looking for something. She stands on her tippy toes using a hand to cover up the sun. Then her eyes land on me and we make eye contact. She tries to mouthing something to me, but I didn't understand a word of it. I decided to walk over and she made hand gestures as if she was signaling at me to not continue to move in their direction anyway.
Zoe whispers into Savannah's ear and her eyes shot wide and she jerked in my direction. She then proceeded with caution to get Jack's attention. He had almost the same reaction she had but continues to argue with Ben. Savannah rolls her eyes and tries to tell Zoe something but it seemed as if it didn't work out. As I get closer to the situation I hear Ben scream at Jack and I almost taken aback. This was worse than usual.
I see Zoe running to me. Zoe never runs so I stop. When she gets to me she pushed through at least twenty people, who were by the way just eavesdropping. "Come on," she mumbles and tries to pull me away.
"What's this about?" I ask as I pull out of her grasp and start to walk closer to the scene.
"Ally, It's just another one of there fights you don't need to be there," Zoe says after a moment of hesitation. I continue to much closer until I'm in earshot.
"She's a slut. Jake, you shouldn't hang out with her for both our sakes." Ben said while almost spitting the words.
"What do you mean both of our sakes? What do you mean? You act like you associate yourself with me. The only time you talk to me is when you yell or fight. Ally has nothing to do with you." Jake yelled. That's when I stopped in my tracks. What did he mean he doesn't have anything to do with me. Why are they fighting about me?
"Has word not gotten to you? Jake, she sleeps around." Ben was shouting. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I felt a hand lay on my shoulder.
"I'm sorry Ally," Zoe said. I didn't respond. I just stood there. It's like everything disappeared. I suddenly felt weak. I just wanted to cry. I turn to Zoe
"What's going on? And don't tell me 'it's just the normal, Ally' crap."
"Well," Zoe mumble.
"I can just walk up and ask if you want me too?" I dare
"Ally Don't" Zoe yelled. People glanced in our direction but didn't care enough to take into count who was talking.
"Let's not do this here and I'm only saying this for you."
"Fine," I say as I walk behind her away from the crowd. We walked back to my lunch table. I sat down in a pouting manner.
"Rumors are going around..." She paused. "About you."
"Yeah, I figured that much out," I said.
"Well, people pretty much think that you slept with most the theater class. And well they're not denying it." Zoe explained. I couldn't believe it. How could someone do this to me? I didn't think anyone really hated me that much. I felt so many emotions but mostly just shock. "I'm sorry. I wish I could stop it but all I can do about it is deny it." Zoe explained. As she did another girl group of girls passed by. All four of them had a death glare and were pointed straight in my direction.
