Nature

What has happened to nature?
There are leaves on the ground
Twigs be fallin' down
The grass gently blows
Rocks stuck in the floor
Pictures showing more
Grass becomes gravel
While all these cars travel
With the motion exploding modern industry
While people are answering the daily questionnaire
Cars just pass
Instead of people sitting on the grass
Just letting the time pass
And telling everyone how much their phones are fun
But when the day is finally done
That setting sun that some adore
While others sit upon the floor
While some people are up and about
Some people sit inside bored and stout
When they really don't want to come out
Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter
The screens just flicker
But you don't need Twitter
Sending those little updates on life in a few words
Why don't people share some memories with their friends
Maybe laugh at each other more than what someone else says
And don't even get me started on Instagram
The posts we stamp online without even thinking
The comments that spew out of these thumbs
It is like a race to be the first like online
But what about us
The people that should be cared for
Maybe even adored
And the chats that we shared in person
Have now been reduced to snaps
Photos that could be printed, are now being sent miles in seconds
Faster than you can say "hi"
And the abbreviations we use to shorten the conversation
I asked my friend one time if he wanted to talk
And he said back, I will facetime you soon OK
Then I said
OMG OMG OMG
What about me
Am I not important
These phones have started to control the very functions of our lives
These animals need to be seen
Not on the screens of that phone
Without these IPhones, IPads, IMacs
There are way too many Is
Where did all the WEs and USes
Did they leave
Did they fly away
Stolen from our mouths with that lovely wind we are all missing
Our shoes should be gently kissing the grass
That we just let go of when we grow older
The more we leave our life behind for the phones that have plugged us in
But what has happened is we measure our social status on what everyone else says
We don't have a mind anymore
We google more than we we boggle our eyes at the sights that are leaving
They are leaving fast
That time is flying by, slipping through our fingers like sand
Trapped in an endless circle of a GIF
But when you truly make believe you are a hero
Or a simple fairy
It is seems like a photo that should be locked in a art museum
Those things will be stuck intact on the blogs that people post daily
Now I will leave you to think about this
The next time you step outside, there will be nothing
No leaves
No grass
No rock or wind
Just building after building
Floor after floor of the things you call home
Now excuse me, I need to go to live my own life in the outdoors
